My current Config
Xeon W3520
6 Gb DDR3
X58A UD5
eVGA 9800GT Superclocked
Dell 2209WA

I find that performance in newer games isn't satisfactory
The title pretty much sums up my query. Does it make sense to pick up another 9800GT on the cheap or sell off my current card and upgrade to something in the INR 12-15k range,

GTX 560Ti/HD6950 1GB ~ 14.2k will be significantly faster than 9800GT SLi. So, it is better to sell off 9800GT and upgrade to a faster single GPU. :)

Upgrade to a 6850 or better, 6950 to play games at high/v high settings at full HD.

^^as muzux2 said. HD6950 is low in power consumption than 560ti and is a great performer compared to 560ti.. Moreover an ATI RADEON :cool2:

Look for a second hand 8800GT for around 3k. You should get GTX460 768mb performance via SLi for cheap then.

But ofcourse if you have the money, then obviously get a fast card :)

Lynx is selling the 6950 2gb for around 15k or perhaps slightly less in fact. For 16k or so you can get 6950 2gb OC

Thanks for the suggestions guys. One post that stood out was the possibility of gettin GTX 460 level performance for a fraction of the price of a new 560Ti. Is that a realistic possibility?

^8800GT SLI is ~GTX280 level in performance. The 460 will trample all over an 8800GT SLI setup. (9800GT and 8800GT are the same card..)

Also, you may be frame-buffer limited, if your 9800GT has only 512MB RAM.

Im aware that the 9800GT and 8800 GT are indeed the same card. Going by the recommendations I think i'll consider the option of getting a new card.
