Saw this over at Techtree - Altec Lansing Launches 2.1 Speakers

Altec Lansing has launched the VS 2721E 2.1 speaker system in India. Designed to be used primarily with the PC, they will cater to those who want to get the most out of music, games and movies without breaking the bank.

The speakers are elegant enough to adorn your computer desk, and with dimensions of 3.9 (W) x 4 (D) x 8 (H) inches, the satellites have just the perfect size. The subwoofer is larger with dimensions 10.3 (W) x 5.2 (D) x 8.9 (H) inches, which is still a very manageable size.

The speakers consist of two satellite speakers with one 3-inch mid/high frequency driver and a tweeter per satellite speaker and one 4-inch side-firing subwoofer. This speaker set comes with a wired remote controller, allowing you to control volume, tone and muting functions. A headphone jack is provided so that you can connect one when you don't want to disturb others. An auxilliary jack is provided to connect a media player. The rated continuous power output of these speakers is 28 Watts RMS, which should be sufficient for a medium-sized room, if the specified RMS value is correct. Specifications mention the frequency response of the speaker set as 45 Hz to 18 kHz, which pretty much covers the entire audible range of most human beings.

With a one year warranty, Altec Lansing VS 2721 E speaker is available at an MRP of Rs.3,790 through all branches of Rashi Peripherals.

Will wait for reviews obviously but these speakers dont seem too bad. Looks like a successor to the ATP3 (maybe the VS 4121 already was a successor but i havent heard much about those).

MRP is Rs. 3790 so street price may be around 3.5k? These could be a nice set of speakers for people on a budget, but who still want better sound than Creative inspire. Lets wait and watch.
