BUILDING FOR

im going for gaming

2 years a long time and for that you should look for a Quad core actually

AMD Athlon II X4 620 5.5k | Amd Phenom II X2 550 BE (unlocked after buying) - 5.2k

Biostar T785G 128 M 4.1k

Gskill PI Black - 3.6k (800mhz) or Gskill GBPK 1066 for 4k ?

Coresair VX450 - 4.1k | Seasonic 430 3.8k

ATI HD4770 - 6.5k

Any 19" WS monitor (or the one suggested above) - max 7k

CM Elite 335 - ~2.2k ?

That goes a little above 33k, you can reduce by getting value ram . the price mentioned includes AII X4 , VX450 and PI Blacks.

CPU : Intel E5300 - 3.4k

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-G31-S2L - 2.5k

RAM: 2 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz OCZ Titanium - 3.3k (1x 2GB will be more than enough imo)

GPU: Palit GTS250 512MB 7.3k // MSI HD4850 512MB OC - 7.3k

HDD: Seagate 500GB 7200.12 - 2.5k

Cabinet: Zebronics Bijli - 1.1k

PSU: Corsair cx400 - 3.1k

Monitor: Samsung S2033SW - 7.6k

Keyboard: Logitech Basic keyboard - 300

Mouse: Logitech MX-518 - 1.4k

total comes to around 32500

deduct one 2GB stick and you might be able to afford a cooler for cpu... OC it and extract the juice

Alternatively... if possible .. get Athlon X4 620 along with any cheap AM2+ board supported.

do not go for 785/790 since you are going for dedicated gpu..and this is where you can save probably 1k..

@DS: imo...785GE 128 is good for people going for onboard IGP.. for others.. 790GXB A2+ / GXBE makes more sense.. the 785 one is uATX and the 790 one is ATX... the pci slots on that uATX renders useless while using dual slot GPU

+1 For this config.
If gaming performance is what you are looking for, go with this and OC that E5200(get this if cheaper)/5300 a bit north of 3.2Ghz/1200Mhz overall FSB on the stock cooler(very much possible).
It goes up to ~32k but is a much more complete configuration as you can see.
Cliff notes:-
*Don't bother with searching for a better(non-existent) 775 socket board than the G31 S2L/ES2L at this budget.
*If you are okay with spending a bit more for lower power consumption, get the HD 4770 GPU (Not necessary though).
*If you are happy with a 19incher, get he display suggested by sickizblank
*Consider Gskill Pi black 2x2GB kit as an alternative to the OCZ Titanium RAM kit. It achieves better timings at much lower voltages and stays cool, worth the slight premium.

Good luck with the purchases =D

dude is it worth upgrading a e4400 to e5300
and also i dont need a keyboard and mouse

the samsung monitor u suggested is a 20"one right

@madnav 5000GB :O

I'd say sticking to the GTS250.. Don't go in for a HD4850.. :\

:ashamed:

either a typo OR an ability to travel time :p

anyways..

GTS250 will fair better compared to HD4850 Stock.

just in case prices of GTS250 are not on par.. HD4850 OC mentioned is the one to consider :)

both will be decent enough for a 19 incher...

Hi Sir.
You didn't mention your existing config. in your first post.
This is the very reason we suggest you read the pinned topics before creating threads.
Please go though this:-
http://www.techenclave.com/pc-peripherals/notice-all-those-who-need-help-138633.html

Now, to answer your question, Yes, it is a decent upgrade considering the 45nm fabrication and OC potential. But the major reason is, your current processor will cover approximately ~50% of the new one if you sell it in the TE market.
Also, since you have specified you don't need a keyboard/mouse combo, add that bit of budget + the cash you'd get from selling the current CPU and go for the E7500, which would be an even bigger upgrade.
Alternatively, you can also choose to stick to the current CPU, it will easily do north of 3Ghz/1066Mhz FSB on that Gigabyte G31 board, and you can use the CPU budget to go for a good aftermarket cooler/other accesories/pocket the cash for now(don't recommend this though, since you have cash for a new chip). XD

Good luck with the purchases and post any queries/doubts that you may have. I once again urge you to mention your entire existing setup. :)

AII X4 620 seems to have best bang for the buck

beats Q8200[8.5k] in 90% tests by fair margin.

Even an oced E7400 comes nowhere near in multithreaded apps. Also the x4 does 3.6~3.8Ghz+ easily with a good cooling.

costs almost same as e7400 @ 5.5k.
