Choosing Laptop under 25k from US (500$)

Dear Friends!

My friend is going to return from US to india. He promised me to get one lap for me.

So i m excepting tech members advice regarding which laptop.

I will use the laptop for this purpose.,

1) Software development on open source

2) Causal Gamer

3) Seeing a lot of movies downloaded from internet

looking for your valuable advice.

My budget is 25k in Indian ruppes. ( $500) :)

P.S: if i get any props in my laptop, i must looking for service here. i mean service center in india.
 
Get a dell Studio15 ~ $550 --> ~ 25.3k(@1USD ~ Rs.46). Slightly more than ur budget but u will get a Core i-3 370, 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200RPMHDD. U can transfer the warranty to India too

The Vostro was selling for 379$ till 2 days back, maybe its the same price now. You missed all the really good deals tho, they were on Black Friday. For warranty purposes, i think even Acer laptops have international warranty

Acer has ITW but the owner of the laptop should not have permanent residence in the country if he is claiming global warranty. (ie., if lappy brought in US and u claim warranty in India then the buyer should not have a residence in India, which may not be the case here as OP's friend may be a Indian citizen. So we cant claim it. Someone correct me if i am wrong.)

Also i think OP is gonna miss Cyber monday deals too :p Time is running out.
 
I have no idea about that, if that is true yea it could be a problem.

Yea and all the good Cyber Monday deals will be sold out by now anyway :p

He gonna order the laptop in dec 1 or 2nd week. Still i can't get idea abt which one i have to go :(

So pls give me good suggestions.

I am very much confused. this is my first laptop :(

If anything happen to the lap, how could i get repair? now i m living in bhubaneswar.
