I think what he meant was stuff like photon plus and MTS n so on..but these give you flexibility to change your operator if you are not satisfied with their service, just a change of sim would do...

Dude purpose is the same. HSPDA is the CDMA equivalent of 3g if you want to use it as a high speed modem.
