the reason i dint include d Dell was dat it dint have DDR3 RAM n HDMI slot (Vostro 1520 doesnt even have a webcam!!)

y will you need DDR3 and HDMI when you are a student who does not game or watch movies in FULL HD??

well shudnt i buy sumthin which z latest rather dan sumthin which will become old soon..i wud need HDMI slot to connect the laptop to my HDTV..

My opinion:

Lenovo G550

Toshiba 500

Choice between these two will further depend upon, screen quality, build quality, Sound card model, speaker quality.

If i dint have a chance to see any, i would vouch for toshiba satellite as i know they mostly use the best for all these factors.

Also see:

New Dell Inspiron 14: Configure it with same specs, adding HD4330, and in a lesser price. That could be the confusion-breaker.

Why i ruled out Acer n Compaq:

Acer screen quality and support is questionable, while Compaq's component quality is very bad from recent experiences. And when the pricing is as high as trusted brands like Lenovo, Toshiba and Dell, i wont give these a second look.
