Sometime back there was news that starting Dec 2009/Jan 2010, number portability would be allowed between various mobile carriers.

Does anyone know if it was implemented by these mobile carriers ?

Airtel says it will be ready by july. So this can be the least expected date.

do not think for docomo they SUCK for connectivity. no clarity for voice calls .almost no calls are received. only you can call other nos. they provide free missed call alerts specifically for this reason.

they said that Airtel would be ready by April , but still on a whole it would take more time..
around july or august 2010..

pls dont believe any tentative dates untill it is actually out !!! what fun do the government & the service providers get by first creating a hype about something new, and then keeping on delaying it ??? its similar to the 3G auctions being postponed from every tentative date !! i think india will get 3G from private service providers when 4G would be on its way internationally !!

Rightly said. That way we always get the benefit of bug fixes. :)

Also we can get cheaper phones/technology which other countries are tired of having.
