The upgrade won't be worth since the performance uplift in gaming in 90% of the games flattens out at 3200-3600MHz. Unless you have some encoding\rendering requirement I don't think the upgrade is worth it. Better to invest in 5800X3D if looking for more performance.

This is exactly what I'm waiting for. Waiting for the 5800X3D to release and see the real-world benchmarks and performance improvements. If it's worth it, then I'll definitely be making the upgrade.

What you are refering to are two different parameters. The Higher the frequency of the RAM, the more bandwidth you will get in Read and Write operations. This is the bandwidth between the processor and the RAM. CL stuff referes to latency i.e. how fast RAM reacts to commands. Tighter timings do improve 0.1% and 1% lows in gaming if rest of the components are not a bottleneck.

I see. Understood. Since my main usage is only for gaming, I'd hold off on upgrading the RAM for now. Maybe a DDR5 system revamp in the future

@ravihpa Difference will be definitely there since 5800X3D increases the L3 cache from 32 to whopping 96MB from traditional 5800X. How much diff is something we shall see after gaming benchmarks from HU.

I came across a discussion on reddit where people were recommending an X570 motherboard for 5800X3D. Now, I'm a little concerned whether my current mobo would be good enough. I have an ASUS ROG STRIX B550 Gaming-F motherboard. I spent 18.5k on it. So far, it's been great and it's well built. I don't OC much my 5600X. Just the basic Auto OC profile in Ryzen Master.

Any input or thoughts on this?

X570 is mostly talked about OC and tighter memory configs over the AM4 platform. B550 is just as strong considering the benefits of base vanilla. 5800X3D won't be held back in anyway.

Enthusiast Overclockers usually give X570 more points and preference but doesn't mean other chipsets are weaker.

Purchased a used Zotac 1660 from a TE member and decided to put a mild overclock.
Wasn't expecting these results! Getting near 1660 Super level scores.
I'm certain I can easily OC it to beyond 1660 Super, but for now, I'm happy with the current performance.

4.4GHz @ 1.18V is probably possible, but ideal if your cooler can keep up.

Even a good B350 board will do, if you don't mind missing out on gen4 SSDs ofc.

i did enter 1.18 in my bios but it works on 1.24v most of the time . The 1.26 in the above picture is a spike. I have a b450 aorus mobo and the voltage setting are a bit fi and I cannot bring them below 1.24 no matter what i do

Around ~15,800 multicore on my 7600 non-X overclocked to 5.4 Ghz at 1.2V. By bumping it to 5.45 Ghz at 1.21V, I can just barely touch 16k points. But 5.4 is definitely more stable. Max temp is around 85-86C with an ambient of 30-35C. Since Ryzen is so thermally limited, I have to wonder how much more I could push it if I lived somewhere colder.
