Hi Guys
I do not know if this is the right section but here it goes. My HTPC needs an upgrade cos the default SMPS (iball 306) is making a whole lot of noise - this is in addition to the 2 40mm fans that run at full speed making a whole lot of noise. My OEM heatsink of 7750 is adequate since i underclock it for h264 playback.

The noise is the main problem since with music playback the constant whirring drives me crazy.

Also suggest a HTPC case upto say 7-8k excluding the SMPS.

PS: I plan to add no addtional display cards but I do have 2 Seagate 7200.12 1 tb HDDs in my case - more to be added. The disks are pretty silent BTW.

Re: silent psu required....

you should get Seasonic S12II 380W

+1 . i m also using this since more than 6 months and its winters now no fan ac cooler working in my room and i cant hear any noise from my cabinet , never

its dead silent,

sometimes i confuse if my pc is really on or wat ? :p

and its highly efficent as well 80 plus bronze certified and the main USP of ythis PSU is that its effiicent not only under load but in idle state as well which some of the corsair psu like Vx400 or cx400( forgot the model no :p) are not that efficient idly..
