Software for checking Bad sector on HDD

^ You have to use /R to check for bad sector with chkdsk. Use chkdsk /R d: . Also this method takes hell lot of time depending on size, hdtune gives result in just few mins. But chkdsk actually marks bad sectors while hdtune does not.

chkdsk is a better option, set and leave overnight...
 
+1 to chkdsk. Otherwise, download Hiren's BootCD 9.8 and use any of the manufacturer supplied HDD scanning and error resolving tools.

no need of /R dude to check badsectors in chkdsk, i hav done it myself hundreds of times and it doesnt take a hell lot of time only a few minutes dat set....
