I would recommend to forget

Acer: Not that good build quality

HP/Compaq: Terrible failure rate

Lenovo: You have better options

Most people on this forum recommend Dell and I wont be an exception. The NBD warranty gives you immense peace of mind.

Whatever they lack in specifications they more than make up for it in reliability and after sales service.

My suggestion buy the Dell Vostro Vostro 3400 Laptop Details | Dell India

Looks good and withing your budget you will get i5 and NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 310M, 512MB Graphics

Would suggest you to check this out.

No man...310 is very inferior compared to 5650/5730.. At least GT335 needed..

Well if you want a higher specced laptop that dies on you and then you spend days trying to get it fixed.

Not to mention paying for repairs even in Warranty. Thats what has been happening with many of my

friends who have bought HP.

Plus on a laptop you would hardly be able to notice the difference in the graphic card capability.

Go for the Lenovo Y560 with Ati 5730 graphics card as you will be gaming a lot in hostel:eek:hyeah:
The i3-350m cpu is more than enough for your usage conditions.I agree that dell support is no.1 in India and provides on-site warranty but lenovo is not bad,the only thing is that you have to take it to their service centre,BUT Dell inspiron/studio/vostro come with very very weak graphics card such as Ati 5470 or nvidia G310M whose performance is like 50% of ati 5730 and you wont be able to run future(next 2 yrs) games even at low resolution and detail, heck these cards cant play even current games in medium resolution and detail:no:

I agree HP has worst ASS, you wont even believehow bad it is. Never ever buy an HP no matter how good the deal is.

Notebookcheck: Mobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List

I would consider the following dell system also

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Though its an inspiron but is 15" , 4 GB RAM, ATI Mobility 550V 1 GB Graphics card (based on 4650 with a slower clock speed, it is DirectX 10.1 but performs better than 5470)

I have added

Genuine Home Premium

ATI Mobility Radeon 550V

Targus Curve 16" Backpack

1 Year Complete Cover Accidental Damage Protection

which take the price to 47837 + 900 = 48737

I would have loved a 9 Cell battery and Creative XFi Software Sound Solution but that's available only in studio range but then you won't get the ATI Mobility Radeon 550V

Also note that the Graphics Card updates are only provided by the laptop manufacturer and not by ATI.

Yes u can dude.. My friend's Dell Inspiron 15R with 5470 cant do COD MW2 / NFS shift etc on medium settings...while other friends EB16 with 5650 does so with ease.. Try playing more dude then u can understand..
