I am looking for a Graphic card for gaming, capable of playing all the latest games at medium resolution at least.

preference given to 8600 GT or better graphic cards.

no GS versions please, since they are low end cards and are not meant for mid end gaming.

No ddr2 versions as well.

price expectations:
8600 Gt max till 2.5k

better cards max till 3 or 3.5k

3.5k is quite a low budget so dont expect to play games on high. You are looking at playing games at low settings and med res.

I normally would play at 1024 x 768, may play at a bit higher. and may go for higher end better cards later, since right now the rates are too high. An 8600gt is capable of playing most latest games at med details or high, as most people say.

8600gt will suffice for 1024X768 resolution

else get a brand new 9500gt 256ddr3 version for 3.3k better than 8600gts too
 
depends, games like crysis you will be playing at 800x600 low and most other games also at 1024x768 medium or so
 
Is there a significant performance difference between 8600 gt and 8600gts ?

also rather than going for 9500gt, I could wait for a better card, buying 8600gt just for the time being, it will be able to play games at decent settings.
