Adept
Hi guys,
Please suggest me the best Gaming Rig for 35k.
This is what i configured:
Core 2 Duo 2.80Ghz E7400 - (3MB L2 cache 2.80Ghz 1066MHz) ~5875
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L Intel® P43 + ICH10 Chipset 1600 OC FSB ~5500
Corsair DDR 2 CM2X1024-6400 (1GB X 2 DDR2 800MHz XMS2) 950*2 ~1900
Western Digital Sata 2 160 GB ~1850
Zebronics Bijli ~1000
CoolerMaster RS500-PCARA3 Extreme Power + 500W ~2800
ZoTac ZT-96TES3P-FCP 9600GT AMP Edition 512MB DDR3 ~6300
Samsung LCD 18.5 '' 933 SN [1360 x 768 MAX RESOLUTION] ~6875
Keyboard MULTIMEDIA ~700
Logitech MX518 1800DPi ~1350
Logitech Headphones ~800
Approx Total ~ 35000
Please suggest your configurations. And i am going to assemble 10 computers with the same configuration for my gaming zone.

Thanks:)

For 1k more, you can get a 4GB DDR2 RAM kit either from India or from abroad via KMD

If its gonna be a gaming rig, why stick with only 160GB ? You can get estern Digital 640GB for around ~4000 . Maybe you can cut down a bit on the motherboard ??

@junkiedogg
thank you for the reply

Actually, I am building 10 rigs so even 1k makes a difference.. and budget is really tight. I guess 160 gb should be enough as only games will be installed on the machines.

Which other motherboard do u suggest, which ofcourse has a lower price tag.:)

The Market of TE has some good offer from some genuine people, to which u can give a look. :)

1 . replace e7400 with e5200 in all rigs . not much difference between the 2 and u will save ~ 2.5k on each rig

2. why do u need rigs with P43 motherboard in gaming cafe ? i think a G31 will be more than enough even if u want to overclock . get gigabyte G31M-S2L for 2.2k .

3 . dont get extreme power psu , it will waste lot of power due to less efficiancy . get corsair CX400 for ~ 3.2k , gives more output than extreme power 500w and 80+ efficiancy .

4 . leave corsair 2gb ram and get transcend 2 x 2gb 800 mhz for 2.2k

5 . u can add xbox 360 controller for 1.3k each.

each rig will cost ~ 30k after these changes . u can make 12 rigs instead of 10 then :p

+1
Every bit counts. If these are going to be primarily gaming machines, make sure the GPU and memory are together the most expensive part of your setup and not the motherboard+CPU. Power savings are important for you as well so don't take the PSU suggestions lightly.

@Amax
I will surely have a look.

@RoBoGhOsT

Awesome suggestion, but i hav a few questions:

1.>gigabyte G31M-S2L does not have solid capacitors, wont it shorten the life of the motherboard in the longer run?:(

2.>will CX400 be enough to power up the whole machine including Zotac 9600gt Amp?

3.>transcend Ram 2*2 gb >> where can i get it for 2.2 k? Lamington Rd?

4.>Any other GPU recommendations?

@Amien

yup, i'll make sure that the GPU and the Ram are the most expensive components.

The gigabyte board has partial Solid Caps. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2693

The CX400 will be MORE than sufficient.

Where are you getting the AMP edition for 6.3k?

RAM prices however between 1-1.15k for the 2GB Transcend sticks.

If you dont mind getting the GPU from abroad, consider the HD4830.

Or locally, the 9800GT for around 7.5k

It makes no sense getting very high end RAM. Jus ensure that you have 4gigs of it. Even if its just value RAM.

I would suggest keeping the bulk of the budget aside for the PSU+GFX card

yup, i'll make sure that the GPU and the Ram are the most expensive components.

the board has solid capacitors but not all . it wont shorten life .

btw i have that board currently with an E7300 for testing . does 3.75ghz stable with E7300 . will try pushing more later .

CX400 can power even a GTX 280 :bleh: , 9600gt is nothing for it .

ram is available almost at all places for 1100 per stick around , check lammy

u can also get here at 1k each - ebay

Look at the G31M-ES2L instead of the normal one. Also for a few hundred more, consider the Gigabyte P31 ES3G as well(this one is a full ATX board, the other being micro ATX)

Consider the new eco 9600GT which runs on lower power. HD 4670, 9600GSO(768MB OC version), 9600GT and the green "eco" 9600GT; Pick any of these GPU's. Performance difference between them is negligible and so pick the one you're getting the best rate for. Even a couple hundred difference in your case would mean a lot.

Good Luck and keep us posted! :)

@stalker

AMP EDITION from here: TheITWares - Graphic Cards

I wud prefer buying the GPU's locally as RMA wud be costly.

YUp, i am now considering 4gb RAM.

Actually i did think of the 9800gt aswell as 4830, but then it was not in my budget.
and the max resolution of the LCD is 1360 x 768 so 9600gt should be enough, what say?

@RoBoGhOsT

cool, so the gigabyte G31M-S2L, CX400 and transcend 4gb ram is in.:)

@Amien
The G31M-ES2L and Gigabyte P31 ES3G do seem to be good boards.
I'll have a look at all those GPU you mentioned.

So now the config is:
Intel Dual Core 2.5 GHz E5200 - 800 FSB/2MBCache 3500

Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L Intel® G31 + ICH7 Chipset 1600 OC FSBz 2425

transcend Ram 2*2 gb 2200

Western Digital Sata 2 160 GB 1850

Zebronics Bijli 1000

Corsair 400W Power Supply (CX400W) 3300

ZoTac ZT-96TES3P-FCP 9600GT AMP Edition 512MB DDR3 6300

Samsung LCD 18.5 '' 933 SN [1360 x 768 MAX RESOLUTION] 6875

Keyboard MULTIMEDIA 700

Logitech MX518 1800DPi 1350

Logitech Headphones 800

30300 Total

ANY OTHER CHANGES SUGGESTED?

@ stalker
Which LCD monitor do u suggest?

^^Actually even i used to think that, until i bought myself a 226bw widescreen monitor...Its just awesome. And anyway all the games coming out are Widescreen compatible... So i guess the wide screen monitor should not be a problem..What say?

Listen to Stalker, go with non-wide screen 17 inchers. In anycase, don't go over 19inches or the GPUs you've selected will start coming to their knees with games like Crysis. Don't worry though, at 17 inches the config will max out every game and even Crysis will run at more than respectable settings.
A lot of FPS gamers, including myself(though i don't play anymore) prefer normal aspect monitors. You might find someone cribbing about wide screen monitors but the reverse is not true. (unless he's gonna watch a movie in your cafe :rofl: )

@ Amien
Hmmm...gotta think over it now. Plz suggest me some 19" Monitors. I guess 9600gt will be good enough for a 19inch'er except for a few games like crysis and Gta4.

@whacky_rohan

Nice monitor, has dvi + vga inputs, but its widescreen..any more suggestions for a square 19 inch'er?
