I had overclocked My CPU when I bought it using the Easy Tune utility from Gigabyte. I had done that under Vista and now I use Windows 7.
Now I want to reset the settings to default, I tried installing Easy Tune and resetting it via the Quick boost mode. It shows Default but in the Intel Processor ID Utility it shows Overclocked.
help me out here.
Did a BIOS reset too(Clear CMOS)

Is it that the settings are back to normal but Windows is just reporting it so????

Click on "Advance" and then "Default" and click on "Set". Or just manually change the FSB, multiplier and default vcore.

If you meant that the options are not responsive, just reinstall Easy Tune on Windows 7 and try the above.

did that
here is the result

What do I do?????????????????????

1. Try not to use Windows based applications for system OC. Go to the BIOS and restore defaults, commit them, and restart.

2. Verify the system settings using CPU-Z.

easy Tune will not reset to default if you windows was installed while cpu was overclocked...because then that Speed is default for Easy Tune.. Have noticed this with E5200 + Gigabyte G31 too.

your only option is to reset it from BIOS. .. if you don't know how to do it then just reset the CMOS as per instructions in motherboard User Manual and your issue shall be resolved.

Run MSCONFIG and disable the "ET6" process from startup.

Clearing BIOS wont work, Gigabyte Easy Tune applies the voltages and clocks after booting into the OS.

Try uninstalling the program...if an option comes to save ur current profiles, dont tick it(deletes everythin u've done with it)...

thanks for the help guys
but the problem is that I have already done a BIOS reset(Clear CMOS)
and this problem is there in my other pc also which has the same config....and I haven't overclocked that CPU

Can this be a case of a "re-marked" microprocessor as Intel mentions here

OK
I figured this one out....
Had to e-mail Intel tho....
Anyone having a Core i5 or an i7 Processor has this feature...It is known as the Intel® Turbo Boost Technology

Here is the link that explains it.

Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology frequently asked questions

Disable Turbo Boost and this is what you get.

And there is a Widget to monitor Turbo Boost(It is enabled by default in the BIOS)
