Honestly, were proposals really given out...? Do you have any article around the time period when FUP'ing sprouted, and can be linked to NIC giving recommendations for this vehicle to be implemented..? And the reason / logic behind it..? Basically FUP is like load shedding based on how much one has consumed. It is worse than rationing. It reminds me of a Socialist and regulated era, where we used to line up to get sugar / rice / kerosene (and also at the mercy of the vendor to open shop). Why do they not have any 1 mbps (or even lower speed plan) which has no CAP. Instead of high speed 80GB and then fixed - throttle...? Are you saying the under sea cables which connect us to non - India regions have meters attached on the switches. And we are only allowed xxxxxxx byes of data per month..? Or is there some monetization attached (or a tax) to how much a nation "consumes"..? Who has set this..? I seriously fail to understand the rationale behind FUP apart from being a money making racket...!
 
^ Never has TRAI mandated FUP. The AIRTEL/TATA Cartel was forcing it initially in 2009 and later all followed suit since they felt its a money making scheme.
Since the way of advertising was shady with some operators advertising as " 2mbps unlimited @ 499". TRAI just asked to advertise with FUP data and Post FUP Speeds. That's it.

They have started it as a pilot program, takes time to bring these plans in the brown areas since the user would have Speed issues even with Docsis 3.0
It is not clear whether they will provide these plans on FTTH/Docsis.
 
We are planning to take this plan in Pune at the place I am staying. Currently using airtel 80GB 2 Mbps which although works fine, this is any day better. Lets see how roomies respond about this and then only we will apply.
Btw I asked YOU and they are not going to provide any MODEM, that's what the CC told me. A LAN cable will come to my place and I can connect it directly to a router.
 
Guys, they have the worst CC in Chennai. I applied online got a green light on the feasibility, their sales rep collected the money immediately and I was assured that the connection will be done in 10 days. I waited for over a month, nothing, called their CC multiple times, the sales rep kept putting me off, disconnecting my calls etc.. Finally, got a call from their Pune CC that the connection cannot be given, due to lack of feasibility.. I got a refund cheque after 4 months of cancellation request.

Please beware while going for YOU broadband, think they are Pune based, services may be a tad better there.

The same happened to me and I just opened a thread here stating the fact. Well, seems like I need to wait for couple of months to get the refund back.

Yea be patient, call the cc and request them to cancel the connection, post that followup as much as possible, hope that in a couple months you will get the call. Also try writing a note to their nodal officer.
 
Vodafone India will soon buy You Broadband, a cabled Internet company for around Rs 400 crore, said two people familiar with talks. The companies have been in talks for the last three months, and documents are now being drawn up to finalize the acquisition, said a third person.

The acquisition is relevant as it will increase Vodafone's competitiveness in high data consuming cities against Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio Infocomm, which is expected to launch commercial operations later this year. Vodafone will need to compete on Internet speed over its 4G network and pricing.

"All telecom operators need more robust optic fibre, back haul. They also need to gear to direct access to customers through fibre to home or building," said Kunal Bajaj, telecom consultant and CEO Bombay Gas. Expense and time delays in getting right of way to lay fresh cables in the ground, make any operational asset advantageous, he said.

You Broadband has around 3,000 kilometers of optic fibre and 6,000 kilometers of last mile cables to homes across 12 cities. The most prominent of it being in Mumbai, a key data market for Vodafone, where the battle with Jio will be intense.
