Its typical attitude like this, try and fix something that wasnt broken, TE and the market section was working "perfectly" well all most perfectly.

In the quest to perfect something you have managed to ruin everything nice about TE. Whats with the constant theme and layout changes? Why not just stick to 1 theme and let it be.

You have effectively destroyed the market section.

Way to fix this? Please bring back the old theme and the old market section.

Its not just the market but the whole of TE just doesnt feel the same anymore.

Sorry you feel lost in the evolution. While we do that let us order a bullock cart to replace your car. Don't know why they created one in the first place when the cart was working perfectly.

As for market back to forum, I have already mentioned that we are planning something like that. So any input, if constructive, is welcome. Otherwise there is a poll in this thread.

I have voted for previous market, I never really created a thread, so can not comment on that. In terms of viewing threads; I felt that older system was better.

But than; we always resist to change and I believe the comparison might be unfair at this time. considering the older system was here for years and classified is just one months old. I think we may need to give it some more time.

@Sandy

+1, I did not like it from start but I am giving it some more time; may be gradually; I'll get use to it. But I recall when I joined; I really appreciated the simplistic design of website.

Even for me, the new look, classifieds and IPB doesn't feel right. Maybe IPB offers more features, server friendly, smart graphics appeals to the young generation, but the previous TE always looked easy and made you feel at home

something which I miss now...

+1 to that, even i like the older TE look, though it was on vb, yet it was better and was doing the job well.

I can live without the new features installed, rather then the notification and the threaded message system, nothing is much beneficial.

Graphically YES, but at the cost of some precious network bandwidth (especially in case of mobile internet user).

Also another thing that i would like to mention is that, the new feature like map, are not much user, or are they??

If it ain't broke don't fix it. If that were the universal truth all the forums would be running on vBulletin 1.x

If the aspects of a software are not beneficial to you then it does not mean that it has none. You can live without a certain things which someone else cannot. A software cannot be chosen based on the feelings. Maybe you can tell us what is missing on IPB which vbulletin had and you liked. We always listen to feedback and implement changes where feasible.

There is nothing graphical in this forum so the question of precious bandwidth getting consumed does not arise. It is as fast as any other forum if not better. Unless of course you are comparing it with a very low activity low traffic forum. The mobile skin is second to none and loads the forum super fast on a mobile device.

Anyway there is a new maintenance release of IPB coming out which is supposed to further improve the loading speed of the forum. The rapid and focused development of the software is another reason we moved away from VB. They seem to be stuck in a warp with no future visibility.

Keep the current classifieds system but with the following additions:

1. Separate sections for FS and WTB

2. A bump button which can be activated only once a day

3. get rid of " Seller confirms pictures " if the seller does not upload the pics then dont allow it to be posted

4. Archive the classifieds for which the deal has been completed say after a week or so.

- thats true, it might be beneficial for others. What i posted was my view.

- Personally i have experience in one case, when due to slow net, the forum was not working properly, like when i clicked on the notification, it didn't show the motification bar, instead it linked to the all the notification under user CP

Another was when the reply-box, was empty without any buttons.

Moreover i like the previous way when the thread contents is displayed on mouse hover, unlike now, i have to click on the button, it loads after 5-10 sec > i read it > i close >

.

Previous, mouse hover > read >

All points already under consideration. Thanks for the inputs.

After the classified came in I completely forgot that TE once had a market. That's how I would sum it up.

I prefer the old market since it had a dynamic discussion and was much more open to criticism.

After TE changed it's market I saw that another forum also changed how it's market was accessed. They had implemented two searches.

One which shows only posts (for once who hate market FS WTB threads in between their tech journey) and the other which showed Market +Regular posts

This way users who do not like the market posts impending their TE surfing can thus be safe from what is "spam" to them while the others can get a better exposure to the current deals.

I created a WTB thread in the classified and in a few days time couldn't find it. I found it after what I would call an extensive search (relatively). Never stepped into classifieds again. Although it's nice to see TE with just tech posts now.

We had always had the "New Tech Posts" and "All New Posts" button segregation on TE, so this is nothing new. In fact I hardly ever visited the market posts.

Segregating content was anyway never a reason for bringing in classifieds. It is simply a better way of handling buying/selling which apparently did not fit well with the TE culture. So now we are going to bring the best of both worlds together to suit everyone's needs.

We will not be bringing back the "New Tech Posts" and "All New Posts" button as that is not needed on IPB, it being a superior software. Anyone can filter the forums they want to see in their search results through a setting. So for users like me, the tech journey shall continue unhindered.

Took me 2 secs to find your WTB for the PS3 cam mounting clip. You just needed to hit your profile > Classifieds tab. Not sure how much faster you can make that via Member's Market. But anyway, its irrelevant now
<

The 2 search option existed previously as well. And even now you have the option to filter Member's Market or any forum from new content.

Edit: Whoops, Renu beat me to it.

Yeah just goes on to prove that even the best of softwares cannot match up to the expectations laid down by ignorance.

Nevertheless the new setup will still let you access things easily.

Same here. I got access to my classifieds within seconds. It was way easy.

I have suggested my suggestions in second post. I honestly, think people are just afraid of change.

That's exactly how I found it.

But it wasn't for me to find.

I like the new classifieds, especially the uniform format, but I think it warrants a discussion that will help protect the buyer better. The classifieds right now look very discreet and closed.

classifieds section is nice...i miss the market section .. .but i never got a chance to buy anything from classified even if i wanted something.. coz none of the buyers reply to my pm

..wondering whats wrong

You can be as smug as possible in your reply. But the fact is, being a top forum and all, you guys should stick to 1 theme. This constant change is just B$. take it anyway u want. Check any sites, they have a custom design(not talking abt software or whatever. the theme). and thats it. Just coz you can change doesnt mean you should.

I completely agree with @sandy.

Atleast let the old market section, let it be what it is.
