Succumbing to the vehement demand to move the market back to the forums
<
we are going to move it within a week or so.

We had decided to merge the best features of the classifieds into the market section on forum but that will take time. So we have decided to move the market back anyway and then introduce those features at a later stage. We are planning it in a way so that changes between the forum market and the forum market with features will be negligible for the members.

Some of you might have noticed that the listing period in the current classifieds has been reduced from 30 days to 11 days to minimise confusion about what to use.

You can follow this thread as a single stop FAQ for everything that the market is going to offer instead. For now you can read how the market will function.. http://www.techencla...-market-section

The thread is a work in progress and you all are invited to contribute with all that should be included in that. Please suggest all the clauses and guidelines that should be included there.

Great news. I actually like the ease with which you can make a thread now, with all the important questions asked, but have greatly missed the bump feature like many others.

Kudos to the mods and admins for letting the public have a say in this.

#rdst_1 forget the bump, now I see what they have done to the market, it's total crap, I have created a advert, i can no longer edit it to reflect a price drop or any changes, I have no words for how bad it is, no wonder not many users frequent it!

The ability to edit price was supposed to be introduced later but we did not work on it as the decision to work on a different solution was taken. Though not sure where did you get the impression that not many users frequent it.

BTW until the enhanced functionality is brought in non-privileged members will not be able to edit prices anyway. They can however post in the thread with their price revisions.

I do not want to OT in this announcement thread, but the problem I faced is that I created a advert and wanted to make some changes, but was unable to edit it, some error regarding lot of time had passed, there was nowhere I could post, I could not post in the questions section, also I do not think of myself as being a non privelged member as have been here from 2006.

How long you have been here is irrelevant as post editing rights are not based on that. I was talking about privilege group membership, which you are a member of. That though is again irrelevant as no one can edit the classified prices except mods. You could have reported to change the price. Nevertheless lets not discuss that as there are reasons which will become the past in a week or so.

And the market is back on the forums..

Of course the classifieds listed in the classifieds section cannot be ported to the forums so you will have to create a new listing yourself. Should not be a big deal to copy paste information.

Please read and follow these guidelines on starting a new thread strictly otherwise the moderators will delete your threads without warning.

Do remember to select the correct tags for your products. Users can find out the products they want through the top menu dropdown called Classifieds. However they will be able to do it only if you select the correct tags.

Yeah dates mismatch are ok in the initial period of one month. Provided the dates should be newer than 1st Feb 2012.

Is it possible to create the standard features inbuilt into the thread creating page like , a seperate input field to product name, another input filed for price and so on . finally a text box if the seller wants to say something else.

Good thing this happened..but back to "Bump"y rides i guess...seriously..what pisses me off is when peeps dont decrease their over-priced goods for months and go on bumping the thread messing up all other ads/sales...can u put a restriction on bumps...

Report the posts with excessive bumps or with unnecessary posts like "great price", "free bump" etc to moderators. I think we as member can do quite a bit in lessening the workload of mods. IMHO bump should be restricted to twice a week. Simply report the posts.

Also, report any thread not conforming to rules. Regarding price you can't do anything because the seller will decide whether to sell or not at lower price.

So we are expecting a template for the market section which will have the basic/important questions regarding the product right?

And its good to be back to the threaded market
<
.

#Renegade, is it possible to prefix the market thread with [FS] or [WTB] like in previous case.

That will make the market thread distinct in the search result page (View New Content)

yea thank god market is back @ forums .. user friendly + less confusion

C'mon guys, be honest.. its just easier to fool around in the Market forum
<

The user friendly/less confusing thing is not true. Just today, a member created a thread in Member's Market violating all guidelines. His thread was obviously locked (like almost all new market threads). He now has a thread in Classifieds which is 100% perfect. Do you want to explain how that happened?
