Hi, I am looking to buy a new/used tablet. Two things that I want the tab to have are:
10 inches screen size and 3g. Please suggest. Budget 17k

Primarily I want the tab to read pdf and to use as a PIM. taking into consideration the pdfs requirement I am planning to get a 10 incher. Will a 7 inch tab be able to do a good job of reading pdfs

I dont think you would be able to get a 10 inch tab in this budget. Maybe a second hand one, but definitely not a new piece. Even a 7" reliance tab costs ~15K and it supports 3G. Cheapest 10 inch tab would be an ipad 2 16GB wifi at around 22K.

And, for pdf reading, 7 inchers are a waste. So, increase your budget (or save up) till you can afford a 10 incher. Hope this helps.

Spend around 2/3k more and get a iPad 2 using discount coupon.

Xoom is not a bad option either, but thats your choice whether Xoom or a Ipad. You could also get a used iPad too.

As for reading pdf on 7 inchers, its a matter of choice. Those of us who do not have the moolah/do not want a 10 incher as they aint exactly portable, go for the 7 inchers. I am using a 7 incher, but do not read pdf's on it, mainly epub and mobi files, the occasional game and fb chat. It fits into my jeans back pocket and is quite a good deal for 5.5k

Even if motorola xoom does not get a jellybean update, its quite since your usage mainly is reading pdf files..... Although I love android, and what not, I would still suggest you to go for and ipad 2 16 gb. It would get an iOS 6 update for sure as soon as its available.....

Thanks for the suggestions.

I too like the the iPad, but those around my budget (ok, stretched budget) are only wi-fi versions. I have minimal access to wi-fi, and I basically need connectivity on the move. So the iPad is out if the question.

Currently I am inclined towards the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi + 3g. New one costs 23.5k in Hypercity, Bangalore. But they are giving the display piece ( they say no stock) and its damaged (dent on lower left side, plus its been there on display since a long long time)

I am getting used ones (year old) at around 18k. Should i get a used or new? Any idea where I can I buy a new one? #confused

In amazon it will include customs and additional charges, But in Ebay I don't think so they will charge customs and additional in this product.

I'm sorry but I didn't quite understand. Amazon will "include" customs means no additional charge right?

You could check out the Onda Vi40 elite, sold by veedee for about 15k, seems to be a good tablet (excellent IPS screen), but as with all cheap tabs, battery life will be nothing to write home about.

I was considering the Vi40, and will be considering the 10inch FB, but at 15k, maybe it is worthwile to put in another few ks and get a proper netbook.

Do you have a 7 incher funbook for 5.5k?

My opinion would be to buy a 7inch tablet because if you want to read pdf 10 inch is a very good option but that thing ain't gonna be portable which is very bad point in pdf reading. And if you wants to buy some thing for reading pdf please check their weight also other wise you will read pdf for few minutes then it will be causing pain on hands.I checked many tablets but most of them are heavy weight for the reading purpose.
My suggestion would be to go for micromax funbook 7 inch if you want cheap android tablet with warranty other wise go for playbook from blackberry
.Playbook got all things you need great build quality and reliable company background and it fits almost all your needs and for your 3g needs playbook fails there unless you buy a portable router which is inconvenience.
But below your budget i don't think you will find a sim supported tablet.

OP, I hope you understand the difference between epub, mobi etc. and pdf. PDFs are best suited for 10 inch screens, while other ebook formats are more comfortable on 7 inch tabs or even 6 inch ebook readers. PDFs dont reflow like ebooks in other formats do. So, if PDFs are your main requirement get a 10 incher minimum.
