Hi Guys
I submitted my Corsair VX450 for RMA on 1st Oct through Prime
Got a call yesterday from them & they said my replacement PSU had arrived

So i went there today to collect it but was surprised to find the replacement PSU was CX600
AFAIK CX series is an entry level PSU, So i didn't accept the replacement & asked for a better model

So what i want to know is
>Is CX600 (or GS Series) a suitable replacement for VX450? if not
>What is a suitable replacement for VX450?

1. No. You did right to refuse it.

2. There is none in the Corsair line. Your best bet is the RM450, but that is $$$. The Seasonic S12II 430 is an upgraded replacement. The VX450 is basically the original S12 with uprated specs, back when Corsair actually knew what they were doing.

I would ask Prime to give you credit and get a better supply, or bite the bullet and get the RM450.

What about the GS Series?

I was told by the guy handling RMA @ Prime that he'll contact corsair & let me know by Monday, I told him that I'll call him tomorrow to tell him what series/model would be acceptable to me as replacement (pls suggest some good replacements) I've seen some members here get the TX series

About asking for credit would they give credit for 3 & 1/2 yrs old PSU

P.S :I don't think RM450 is available at Prime (It does not show up on their site)

You'd be lucky if anything they actually sell shows up on the site :D It's not updated frequently, but they can get it for you and yes, if they are offering to replace it with a new supply and do not have a satisfactory replacement they are bound to give you credit. Note that it will be depreciated value, not new value. else you can take a CX/GS (one is crap, the other is crap with bling on it), sell it and get something better.

but guys isn't corsair supposed to replace my faulty unit with similar or better product
I'm not too much inclined towards getting credit because i don't have $$ to spend right now:(

Anyways if i don't get appropriate response from them then I'll try contacting Corsair USA

Final Query
>What is a suitable replacement for VX450?

Corsair's current lineup has no suitable replacement for vx450, the models that match the same quality cost roughly 2times the cost of vx450.
Try asking them to replace it with a hx series model(any seasonic make will do). Or better, get a refund and get a seasonic sII series.

Corsair's obligation is not to replace your PSU with same or better model. Replacement is their jurisdiction and discretion, they could also repair the unit if they so wish.

The fact that they do not have a suitable replacement is their problem, you are entitled to choose from only the solutions they have at the present moment. In marketing terms they are offering you a 600w unit that costs today around the same as your unit did when new, so in their lineup it is an equivalent replacement. This is not arguable even in a court of law. Frankly, you're out of luck unless you put down some cash and move up the line or to Seasonic.

AFIAK Companies usually have a "similar or better model replacement" policy & '
Being Corsair if the adopt the policy stated above by you then that's sad because Corsair is considered the best for their after sales services
anyways prime says they'll contact corsair and let me know by Monday, Lets see whats the outcome.
I'm definitely not going to settle for a inferior replacement

P.S: I've seen many users here get tx550m or tx650m in replacement of their vx450
