Forum Feedback TE Crashed?

So, what happened? All the posts in threads were replaced by some HTC article. Even new comments were being converted to such after a few minutes. Some cried about TE being "haxxed" and all. And finally the forums were down.

Now I see that posts from the last three days have been lost due to a crash.

Was the crash due to the updates going on, or was it an external attack?

Just curious.

The issue was with the data migration script which was being run by someone for us. The script was battle tested and the migrations went well. The last part however ****ed up something and all posts got overwritten. The restoration took all this while. Unfortunately the backup we had was 48 hours stale. So all posts in those 48 hours were lost.

I feel so ashamed and frustrated right now I would burrow myself into a hole if I could for not having a more recent backup. :(
 
Looks to me like a problem due to upgrade.If hacked ,the hacker would have at least bothered to specify his motive.
Mods ,do clarify.
 
@Pseudo Admin, Not to blame someone but I've seen things like these happens a lot on TE compared to other forums. Sometimes some upgrades where we loose our likes or some other thing, Any specific reasons? Just curious.... Sorry if I'm going out of line :(

The only thing we lost in the past were the likes and that was because of the migration from one forum software to another which did not support the same feature. Other than that this is the only other instance when this has happened.

Include failure to keep out the usage of profanities in the post as well?
 
Now TD forums are getting timed out for me. This TE + TD crashing + the Malaysian aircraft mysterious disappearance all seem a big international machination to me .

BTW some of these posts can be recovered provide the members edited their posts. We can then fetch from edit history.

Most of the times I edit my posts right after I hit post. Some kind of OCD. But it would be too much of a hassle for you I think.
