Sorry Sir, The price is 2k higher than what we expected. Google will soon learn their lessons about pricing its products in India

PS:It would have been fair if the OP has done a clean copy paste job and mentioned the source of the article.

Why and how?

Its obviously high end hardware, but Google would want to put a price that's similar or a notch better than the competition. For example, LG G3 which is also a phone with a QHD display and a Snapdragon 801 series SoC retails for 40k. Oppo Find 7 is another device similar to LG G3 and sells for 38k.

Further I don't think the difference between SD 801 and SD805 is revolutionary. In fact, I am finding my Vibe Z2 Pro which is also a QHD device powered by SD801 getting benchmark scores that are very similar or in some cases tad bit better than SD805 powered Note4.

So makes sense that they might go for the 36~37k mark.

Yes but they keep the price closer to the US and UK price... Doesn't make sense to release it for a lower price here.. Plus the general public will buy this over oppo.

G3 has been available for 33-35k on various sites though, which makes buying it a vfm option.

^^ You were expecting a price of 42k then? I was expecting a price of 36 to 37k for the Indian market.
It was earlier rumored that the price would be 42K for 32Gb version. Since it is also being released on flipkart we could see a 1k price cut.

Still cheaper than my 6+ 128gb , i am happy, as it wont be an upgrade since its price is less :p
Can you show me a screenshot of your phone showing 128Gb Storage. :p

With technology changing so fast and a new phone every six months and that to at a higher price; I think people should wait for google's modular phone for their next upgrade. In all things I think future is modular.

The price is fine for a phablet IMO. The only other real alternative is the Note 4 which is upwards of 58k. In fact, I'd even say the price is awesome for such specs.

The size is the bigger deterrent.

^^ Well if you are not too particular about the SD805, then there are several Phablet options that cost less. LG G3, Oppo Find 7, One Plus One if you are fine with 5.5" display. Then there's Vibe Z2 Pro which is capable of running a stock android experience out of the box.

All the other phones has SD801 and not 805 right?

Also that battery makes a lot of difference.

I did mention that already. SD805 is just an evolutionary upgrade and its not drastically better at handling QHD compared to SD801. The difference doesn't even show up in most Mobile system benchmarks. Only in some GPU specific benchmarks, the difference is visible.

How can you even say that?

^^ Check the reviews of SD805 powered devices. CPU scores are usually very close to (often same as) SD801 and GPU scores are just a tad bit better. Nothing revolutionary if SD805 ends up scoring 18FPS in a test that SD801 scored 12FPS.
