Importing goods from china in bulk

Thanks for the reply.I have bought it from mp4nation and then are showing that the parcel company is ezyparcel/quantium but when i track it,it shows nothing.may be a site error. The site shows it wieghs 250gms.You are telling me to send the invoice to the customs after it reaches to them. But the invoice is shows 44$.So will mp4 guys provide me a fake invoice? And if nothing works how much am i supposed to pay?will there be any penality?

I would suggest that you follow up with mp4 nation and get a tracking ID that works, if its is a site error they will tell you what its current status is , i would avoid submitting a false invoice to the customs they have a lot of experience in this , also i dont think the seller woudl provide you with one.

I guess at this point the best option available to you is to cross your fingers and watch the parcel. if they asses customs on it then pay it , there will not be a penalty if you pay when they assess as far as i know

Not true at all, as I mentioned above my package was worth 22$ including shipping. But this didn't happen with my previous orders that were worth a lot more. Even people with proper documentations who have been importing for years occasionally get screwed by custom department and get their package delayed by months or sometimes even loose the package.

^^ Most likely told you a lie and either kept the package for themselves or sold it outside. Indian customs is not trustworthy at all. They try to steal stuff any opportunity they get.
What was in the package btw? If its any thing they understand and could either make use of or sell, that is what happened to it.

It was a digitizer that I ordered for my friends moto g. It seems one of the custom guys had a screen broken on his phone :p

All the products I have ever ordered from Aliexpress have always arrived. One took it's own sweet time of nearly 3+ months but I did receive it. Also I have never been charged any custom duty. That's partially because most of my orders were mobile phone parts and they carry 0% duty. Maybe that's why I used to receive them very quickly too, mostly in under 2 weeks.

Visiting China do create some xtra security about the quality but one could demand samples from the manufacturer too.
I contacted many sellers for samples in my case. They all want to get paid and also want me to bear all expenses including shipping and customs and didn't even guarantee proper delivery.

Well depends.Actually i wanted some samples of screen protectors and mobile cases. That too 2-3 units. So they said they will mark it as a sample and the price is obviously under 20$.But i have to pay for the shipping.

Do you order in bulk? Are you in some mobile reapairing or sales business?

^do you think thats worth it? Just how many of them do you think of buying and will you be able to get profit worth the time and hassle if its for business purposes?
btw giving them my private mail was a mistake. They've been spamming me non-stop. Marked them as spam.

You could contact some people who already have the licenses in place and run IMPEX business. There are a lot of 3rd party importers/exporters that shall be willing to do the importing for you for a charge. You will need to find an impex business that imports the type of commodity you are looking to import. I knew someone who did this for leather goods... He used to order leather through an impex guy and then make articles out of it and sell in India. The impex guy used to take a fee for providing the import service. It's like a courier... except all business happens in the name of the impex guy and then he 'sells' the imported goods to you (at cost + all customs and clearing charges + his fees).

No. But I can tell you one thing, if looking to buy screenguards and accessories in bulk, you can get very good rates from bulk importers. I used to buy some stuff from one such shop in Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh. In fact many shopkeepers from Tier-2/3 cities were regular buyers there.

happy new year.I have figured out one thing that buying from alibaba is only profitable if bought in heavy quantities.I might able to retail them personally but selling it to the local shopkeepers is very difficult.only reason i was interested buying from china was one i thought it would be cheap and second that i can get the item in my brand name.i dont know whether its possible in india?

You can make your own brand, if its registered according to rules..
there are many screenguards / cases which are sold with own brands

HPNY.According to you which one would be more profitable?buying from alibaba or from gaffar market?i want the product in my brand name.will they be able to do it?And don't you think that there is larger variety of products on alibaba than in gaffar market? And also i want to tell you that one of my relatives frequently visits china for business purposes.i am not sure whats his business is all about but i can visit china if its needed. And what would be more profitable retailing or wholesaling?i know that in retailing there would fewer number of customers but margin would be better and opposite in wholesaling. But the reason i am more interested in wholesaling is because one i don't want to own/rent a shop and second if go for retailing i might also have sell mobiles which doesn't offers much profit and is more a kind of headache. And it would be very nice of you if you can message the details of the shop.[DOUBLEPOST=1451595464][/DOUBLEPOST]

elaborate please.by making own brands do you mean setting up the machineries.on alibaba they offer to label the product in your own brand w/ or w/o any fees and that too without any registration.

^if you buy only screenguards, cases and covers i dont think that going to china will be worth it. Because:
1. They are available cheaply here and not many people care about the quality and lots of the consumers are still after VFM. In this case the profit margin may not turn up like you expected. Also there are thousands of smartphones out there. For which models will you buy the accessories for?
2. You may not be able to sell all of your wares if you get them in large quantities. Phones get phased out very quickly. In this case your best choice may indeed be to go with wholeselling but that will further lower your profit margin.
3. Go to karol bagh and talk with the big guys. Ignore the small dealers, they cant and wont help you.

However you may consider personally going there to check the quality of the electronic items like charger, power bank and battery. No one likes poor quality electrical items. If you price them appropriately or competitively to the "Originals" then you'll get buyers.

Re-branding is easy. You just need to register your company.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong by anyone who has an actual experience in this.

That was neat and to the point answer. Thanks for it.I was thinking of sgaurds and cases for the mobile phone which are new or are in trend. But i would like to know what are the items that you think i should invest in that could return me a good profit? As I am just beginning i would opt for easy option and like to buy things in india only.but as i said if its worth it i wouldn't hesitate to go to china. But according to my little experience, i was once checking a light usb cable and it was priced at .8 $ which comes down to around 60 bucks+customs while in my town my friend bought it 30 bucks.may be there could be difference in quality but its very difficult to make the customer understand it.but one the other hand there is larger variety of products on alibaba.so that makes it even more confusing.

I don't think that anyone here will be able to give a good answer to your question. Because there are so many smartphones it will be difficult to say. But if you are really serious about this you can pick the really good quality ones for popular models. Its a niche market. For example i paid $10 for a Ringke case with a screen "protector" (not sure if its a normal screenguard or a tampered glass) for my Moto E. That should come to around 700rs. I'm not sure how good it really is but the case is made in China and Ringke is a popular accessories brand because of the quality. And one member here started a new screenguard/tampered glass brand which he said to have got it made in Taiwan. He's selling the tampered glass for 400rs iirc.
Perhaps if you design good cooling looking cases and outsourc the manufacturing to China then it might help. You can also re-brand spreakers and usb cables. Just make sure they are of genuinely good quality else it'll be a waste of effort. If quality is good people will buy.

Disclaimer: I have zero knowledge in the field. The above is just some of my thoughts. The information provided may or may not be correct.

Sorry but i dint understand cooling cases. So if i want to rebrand products like usb cable, speakers, power banks, batteries and other mobile accessories, where should i start with?delhi or china?from where will it be more profitable?keeping in mind that i am just a beginner and will wholesale and buy in bulk but in limited quantities.i could buy more quantities once my customers are set.
