Don't buy Idea's 1.5GB per day plan.

6pack

ex-Mod
Made mistake. Bought it for 398 with validity of 80 days and 1.5GB 4G/3G/2G data per day and unliimited sms and calls.

1 - my account only had 9 rupees balance. was expecting it to get to 398+. No such thing happened. They only counted it towards data recharge and call balance was still at 9. how do i make unlimited calls at such low balance?

2 - when i did not have any data plan setup on my 4G mobile, i was getting full 3G signal. After my credit card was deducted for the amount, the cheaters disconnected the 3G service (phone said no service) and after a minute it came back to H+ or edge mode. Max download speeds I'm getting i just 10KBps. wtf. no matter if i restarted the phone of made the phone prefer LTE only, it just connects at H+. damn this cheater company. and to think that another cheater like vodafone bought it. both are the same.

Went to rant on Play Store and saw similar stories from other people saying same thing that speeds came down to 3G or below. That means this is done by design since they do not have bandwidth or they don't want people to use 1.5GB data per day. I hope TRAI screws them over hot coals.

Seeems like Google deleted my review on the Idea app probably because i ranted on their fake scheme.

i'm porting to JIO now after this stupid money grabbing tactic of Idea. I hate this company now.

I took a screenshot of another person's review before google deletes it. fuk google.

No company's plan gives you balance in your account. Not vodafone, not Jio. Calls are not charged at all.
Check if you have to activate 4G/3G by sending an sms somewhere.

No balance for Unlimited recharges u get call and data for 80 Days balance remains the same.

That's common on evey network which has 2/3/4G support it jumps between 2/3/4g depending on thr signal strength.

Move out of room and see if it changes to 4g if not then get in touch with Idea CC, Also check if u have the 4G simcard.

Exactly, even airtel is the same. Balance stays the same.

Once the quota for the day is exhausted, it drops down to slow speeds

maybe better to use an app like google's datally or similar to keep track of daily data[DOUBLEPOST=1528584001][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yep, the sim needs to support 4G. And we are assuming he even gets 4G in his room. Outdoors maybe

Dude its the era of ultd calls on any network irrespective of roaming or regions. So even Rs 1 bal works for the plan validity. So when they say you get 100gbs data + free calls then expect 100gb in your account but not any top up amount as calls are anyways free.

Ok. So that means I can make unlimited voice calls on 9 rupees?

I upgraded to a 4G sim months back when I got fed up of Idea sending me sms messages everyday to upgrade to a 4G sim.

How do you explain this?

Sent report to TRAI on their app.

H+ is 3.75G. However, not getting speeds is another thing.

But there is another issue here, albeit with Vodafone. My family is on Vodafone and sometimes, when the main balance is less than 10, it says you need to recharge blah blah and then sometimes the phone call goes through or it does not. Then the call needs to be made again.

Also, unlike Jio, the rest do not inform you that your plan is expiring and you need to recharge. Once the plan expires, money gets deducted from the main balance.

Either way, they are porting out to Jio, where at least phone calls work.

Yes within those 80 days, once that expires it will deduct

How do you explain this?
Your 3G signal looks quite weak. You might just be out of range for 4G

Try outdoors.

3G is at 2100Mhz (don't know if 1800Mhz is operational in India)
4G is at 2300Mhz or still less penetration[DOUBLEPOST=1528612868][/DOUBLEPOST]

Jio requires a recharge every month otherwise you will be disconnected after a couple of months.

With everybody else if you have talk time, that talk time only expires when the circle license expires. This is the main reason i've not bothered with jio and then the 4G frequency headache (its a 4G network right) when 2G is almost full strength everywhere and consequently easier on battery as well

@blr_p, when I had 3G only sim, I used to get 3Mbps download in same room when I had selected their 28 days 3G pack. Even at that time i used to get 110dB or something signal. If i used a Huawei dongle I used to get 5-6Mbps at night. Now nothing. Zero speed.

Same room where I used to get 3G signal, I get 4G now.

I took a screen video of the nonsense an hour or more back. You can see for yourself how the network keeps going back and forth when data is turned on or off. Sorry for the crappy video quality. MI seems to have done something in their update that the screen recorder records at 100Kbps when I had selected 1Mbps quality as recording option. lol.
The youtube video is unlisted so please don't share the link to anyone outside the forum.

If I remember it has nothing to do with idea it's Xiaomi thing when u turn off the data it shows 3g on mi crap.

Also u sure you are getting 4G signal in that perticulor room ?

Your signal strength appears a bit better here, but the speed at the top is showing 3kB/s ?

Is it possible for you to try with another phone

please see the video. first 3 seconds its 4G signal, if we tear our eyes and see. Even youtube seems to have killed the already crappy video quality during encoding it. 4G /3G is not MI fault. What ever network speed the phone can connect to properly, it will show that.[DOUBLEPOST=1528615042][/DOUBLEPOST]

Other phone is plain 3G only. Ither times I tried the TRAI speed test app it showed 0.00KBps speed. lol. @95dB.

I think you did not get what I am saying - Jio keeps messaging (maybe to the point you can consider it spam) that your plan will expire and even then you cannot make outgoing to non Jio but internet works for short time at slow speeds. The rest do not bother. Vodafone/Idea Plan expires and deduction from main wallet starts. Even their apps are of not much use

Airtel doesn't notify at plan expiry either. They barrage me with spam every day for various plans but that all important how many days left is missing. I have to check the sms when i paid for it to know when it actually expires. Thanks t Ji with added competition the prices for data are more reasonable these days. 2.5GB per day for 28 days at around

Not figured out a USSD code to pry this info from them yet

Speed test from 3G only phone. Not much difference here too.
It seems as if the plan hasn't activated. Have you spoken to their call centre ?

yes they debited your account but there might be some accounting error here. Happens some times.

The app shows 1.5GB per day and also I got sms messages from Idea saying successful activation of plan. I didn't call the call center. They charge 50 paise or 1 rupees per minute for calling call center.

Btw if you dont know it has been many months idea and vodafone began sharing common towers and screwed up everything for their customers. I kept fighting for the issue throughout march-may 18 and with hopeless illogical answers like without proper apn settings signal bars cannot be at strength etc etc. Finally the signal bar is still zero or just 1 but speeds have somehow just bettered by 30%. I'm now able to check emails, load small whatsapp images, watch youtube and surf basic sites.

Exactly.

As for the Jio competition, Jio was planning to raise rates, Airtel decided to 1-UP them by bringing the fight. But the idiots at Airtel decided that plans will be specific to customers, hence they f****d up again.

I bought airtel's 2GB/day plan for 82 days at 499. There is no way to tell how long it lasts or how many days remaining. So i just added a reminder to the calendar to remind me a day before it expires.

one thing i noticed is oneplus 6 had an update to work with Idea VOLTE. Is Idea on VOLTE only ? that means 4G won't work unless the phone can understand Idea's VOLTE

Does not explain why 3G doesn't work so....
