I'm seeing this on Chrome. Maybe something broke while tweaking the skin.

Yeah I did not bring back the ads yet since more important issues were still open. Will do so now.

This theme looks better than former. Widescreen monitor has blank space on both sides.

I thought so too, but the new themes grow on you if you use them for a day. Now I can't decide between Light and Alternate.

The themes do have good features not present in the Alternate theme like the original posted icon.

That's a good feature.
However, the menu text on the top of the page looks washed out. Also, the latest posts widget in the footer is not useful, IMO.
