Is ordering food after 3 AM legal in India?

This question has been bothering me since a long time. Is ordering food after 3 AM legal in India? Just asking because I have been ordering through Swiggy/Zomato after midnight since last 3 years. I just wanna know incase any neighbor interrogates me in future, I can put a tight slap on his face!

Order just before 12 am and you will get it the next day. That way you have bypassed same day delivery and you wont get arrested.
But if you are really hungry, order it after 3 am on your neighbour's address. That way you can get away with it.
Let us know how it works out

I don't know about ordering but i do know that you need a special licence/permit to operate a restaurant late into the night/early morning. (at least in TN).
Also, what's with your neighbour? how's your eating habits any concern of his?

Then why isn't Zomato/Swiggy banned in India if it allows night delivery from such restaurants? The delivery boy is from Zomato itself(Live Tracking) in 97% restaurants I order from, I forgot to mention that. I am so sorry. So will my arrest lead to Zomato/Swiggy Nationwide ban? Zomato is delivering the food to me, so they are equally liable for the damage that arises out of neighbors curiosity. Also I would like to point out that noone has interrogated or asked me yet as there are 5-6 neighbors in my society who also order at early morning/after midnight and no neighbor has filed any complaint

If you're living in a society, then try to be considerate of others too. Maybe the delivery guy ringing bell at 3am+ in the morning and destroying the neighbors sleep. If some one next door did this i would be pissed at them for destroying my sleep. Once you lose sleep, it takes hours to sleep again and by that time its too late.

Get your food at 10pm or so and put it in fridge and re-heat it in microwave or gas stove.

It's not because of destroying other's sleep. Actually noone has even asked me anything. Last year a series of thefts and robberies happened in my society including house burglary at absence of owners(History sheeters from Tihar Jail were involved), 15L car stolen at 4 AM from society, 45,000 RS phone snatched by thieves in bike, and a violent theft happened aswell in which a criminal dressed as courier man used blade to cut an Aunty and steal cash from her house. That's why ppl are concerned at Zomato guy delivering food at 3 AM because Police has asked security guards to close entrance/exit gates at 10 PM, and they need permission on phone for everything from house owners

That sucks. No CCTV in society? Does the society pay the security properly or do they outsource it?

Lot of societies pay less than 10k a month to guards. Imagine leaving security to underpaid staff who have no inclination to do anything due to low wages.

I was talking to @Aman27deep around 1 AM a few days back and some guy from Swiggy rang the bell at my house. The order was meant for same flat number in the next building. Confronted the supervisor for letting the delivery guy by without questioning and checking with me on the intercom.

Brought this to the society manager's notice the next day and he was fired.

There is CCTV in the society. But I think criminals don't care or don't bother to read the CCTV warning/too dumb. Perhaps they just know how to break locks and rob ppl :p

That was insane. You have a loose screw, but I don't blame you for what you did.

I make ppl loose their jobs or get harassment from their bosses everyday when I complain to Zomato customer care for late delivery or incorrect items. It happens so quickly that I can say by their faces when they are leaving the society

What kind of delivery guys do you get in your cities. In Chandigarh, not even a single delivery guy has rung the bell for any late night orders. They always call. One day, a poor guy waited for nearly 15min outside my door because my phone was on silent and I was busy playing cards with friends. He still didn't ring the bell and got a healthy tip from me for his impeccable behaviour.

Zomato/Swiggy works best in capital of the nation i.e Delhi. In other cities and places when I have travelled to, I noticed poor service and huge headache for talking to the guy on phone for 30 mins trying to give him the right directions and order always got cancelled in the end. The ppl Zomato/Swiggy hires in other cities don’t even have the brains to come to the marked location on GPS or they could be stubborn idk

Hope you get fired next time someone complains about you at work too.

Yeah thanks. Fat chance though because I do my job right.

How do you know if he was fired or shifted to another building from his agency? So I should just overlook the fact that the supervisor allowed someone to come to my place without confirming over the intercom that too post midnight? So security of the building was breached and if he had a gun or something... Oh yeah I should just overlook all of that because you the mighty @chiron says so.
