Video 50-55" Television - 35k Budget

Hi guys,
I am searching for a 50-55" TV in a budget of 35k. I used an Amazon Fire Stick, so a smart tv is not a requirement per se, but most tvs seem to come equipped with it.

I was using an el-cheapo Sanyo 43" until it conked off after some 1.5 years. Thankfully I had insurance from Acko (that came bundled for free with the purchase from Amazon) and I was refunded the entirety of the purchase amount. Kudos to Acko for a seamless claim process.

I was eyeing Hisense 50" 50A71F, but Hisense 50 and 55" seem to be out of stock (OOS) everywhere. The reason I chose Hisense is because it is a popular budget brand and has an established footprint outside India. Further, it is the OEM for Vu and also comes with 3 years warranty.

Since Hisense has been OOS for quite some time, my search led me to TCL which also comes 3 years warranty. Particularly the 50" 50P8E. I can further insure it for another 2 years, thus having a total of 5 years of warranty.

So, I am quite confused right now. Whether to wait for Hisense to come back in stock, which there is no saying when it would happen. Or go with TCL.

OR look at other brands such as Mi, etc. My only gripe with these brands is that they come with 1 year warranty which can be further extended by one more year. And the life of budget TVs is suspect.

What would you guys recommend? How is TCL as a brand?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I bought an Hisense in Independence day sale and must say I'm fully satisfied with it. I also researched here and there before zeroing down on this brand.
If you are not in a hurry better wait for sale in coming days and Hisense should be in stock back again for sure...
I also feel that given your budget why not look for trusted brands like Sony, Samsung and LG.

Yeah, I guess it makes sense to wait it out. Most likely I'll get the 3 year warranty. Any idea when the next Amazon sale would be? I was thinking with the recent push to manufacture LCDs in India, the supply chain of these TVs would be hindered.

I've heard such good things about Hisense till now. Sony and Samsung are out of my budget, won't be able to get a 50" in 35k, most likely a 43".

Just fyi if you wish to go through my latest reviews posted here

I've heard long ago that TCL is a pretty good manufacturer and also an OEM for other brands. Not sure about the quality today, but if i were to guess, I'd say good.

TCL uses mostly panels from its own subdivision csot, which makes ips panels some of which are assembled in andra pradesh. Their ips panels are even worse then the one LG make in terms of contrast. The 50inch versions however use VA panels which have far superior contrast.

Thank you, that was very helpful. Great job on the review. So you'd recommend waiting for the Hisense to come back in stock?

Yeah, I've heard that too. Though I'm not sure how it compares to Hisense. TCL is the OEM brand for iFFALCON too.
You get 3 years warranty with TCL if you buy it offline.
Yep, that is why it is one of the contenders.

Ah thanks for the info! I didn't know that. Would you recommend TCL then?

Yes if you can as they might again come up with 5 yr warranty offer.
Yesterday few friends dropped at my place and they were astonished with this model as they currently use samsung, lg and vu. Very much impressed with this purchase.. Few others are now awaiting for hisense next sale!

It seems to be back in stock on Amazon but they're only offering 1 year warranty. I'll wait till it comes back in stock on either Reliance or they offer 3 or 5 year warranty on Amazon or FK.

Reliance is offering 3 yrs warranty. You might have to check in your local reliance store..

I tried that. They only had the 43" in stock and believe it or not, they were selling it 10k more expensive than the price quoted on their OWN website. Absurd.

I also tried calling their helpline and they don't have a centralised inventory system, so you have to call each individual store to ask about stock. And guess what? Nobody answers the phone!

Guys, I didn't want to post my issues publicly as I expected the brand to actually help resolve the issues I was facing and worked with them in good faith but I guess it's time to post this and let others make their own informed decisions

I had bought a 50" K31 Iffalcon Tv on in last week of June 2020. The TV display wasn't switching off completely ( I noticed after a week ) and I raised a complaint with the CC in ~2 weeks. They initially refused to help, but after repeat emails sent someone to check. He confirmed the display remains switched on, but told me this is NORMAL. The LED panel in new units doesn't switch off completely and backlight is supposed to be on 24x7. I complained for weeks before TCL finally acknowledged this is a design defect affecting all units of K31 series. In the meantime, their engineers visited my house ~15 times, knocked / pressed / beat the panel more than 50 times to fix the issues despite my requests not to mishandle the panel ( I was told by head of UP CC that he will replace my panel for sure after the issues are resolved ). They sent a replacement panel 2 weeks back but it was a different hardware version and couldn't be installed in my unit ( different connectors )

My TV has been opened more than 10 times. The power supply has been replaced twice and the motherboard once. The panel replacement is pending but the TCL guys just keep saying we will do it in "2 days max".

I just want others to be aware of such brands as FK won't even post my review lol

Screenshot of just one email attached which sums up everything.

No point wasting more time going to consumer forum for 20k. Learned my lesson. Avoid chinese brands like the plague
This is what I did before ordering tv in last months sale. Went through countless reviews for all budget brands and Hisense was just launching and its global reviews were awesome coupled with some good Yt reviews by Indians who bought it at that time.
Impressed and bought it, no regrets esp. the 5yrs panel warranty is icing on a cake..

I went through a lot of reviews for this model as well before buying it. TCL is supposed to be a global top 3 player as well. Never expected that the ****ing TV can't be turned off properly using the remote. Lesson learned - avoid the chinese

Avoid TCL if you can and don't get fooled by their multiple year warranty. They have one of the worst service history. If the MB or panel fails they never have any stock or I am not sure if they pretend that they do not have any stock. If there is no stock they have to replace the TV with new one which they do not do. I had to fight with them for 3 months and send a notice to get a panel replaced. I sold off the TV as soon as the panel was replaced. What is the point in giving warranty if the company cannot honor it.
