Budget 71-90K Laptop for multimedia and occasional gaming

  • What's your Budget?
~85k
  • What will be your primary usage for the notebook be?
Multimedia consumption through hotstar, netflix, etc so need a good quality display

Reading and making notes on office apps. It should be legible at a safe distance.

Occasional games like Tomb Raider
  • What size and weight considerations do you have?
14 inch to 15.6 inch
  • Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest?
Nothing specific
  • Any other considerations?
Build quality, including hinges should be good enough to last a few years of use.

16gb RAM is desirable. Though if not possible in this budget, should have provision to upgrade later on

If you had not included light gaming, I would have suggested the LG Gram 17. It is a 17 inch 2k screen in a 15.6 inch form factor with slots for upgrading both RAM and SSD.
For browsing and multimedia consumption, it seems to be the best option to me.

If its a limiting factor, I can forgo gaming.

Please check some reviews of LG Gram 17 2020 model on Youtube. The new model has been coming and going on Flipkart for an unbelievable price of 69500. It is usually only available for a few seconds everytime. The older model is available for 90k,but I would suggest to wait for the 2020 model, even if it comes at 90k and not at the discounted price, because the 2020 version is much better than the 2019 version. Also all LG Gram models come with 3 year warranty. They also have 14 and 15 inch versions as well.

Congratulations! The G14 is arguably the most impressive laptop in a decade. The variant you got is the best one IMO as it is hard for a near-ultrabook chassis to cool higher power parts.

Congratulations! Make sure you get extended warranty. Asus is giving 2yrs extra warranty for 2.5k. Visit asuspromo.in.

I also have the G14 with a 1660ti and 4800hs.

Just one help /query.
The FK listing says that CPU is i7 while the LG official link for same model (17Z90N-V.AH75A2) says CPU is i5.

Can you please confirm, which CPU you received?

Core i7 1065G7. But note this is the 15W version instead of the higher performing 25W version used in gaming laptops and such

All: The listing pricing has been updated back to 69500. If you are interested to buy have "notify me" clicked to ensure you are alerted when the stock is back

Have clicked on notify button, But will be able to take any decision only after your opinion on how the downloaded 1080P and 4k files look and scale at that 2k screen.

@rdst_1 You have been tracking this laptop since last year, when did the 2020 LG Gram 17 launch in India? My laptop's hinge is damaged but maybe i can use it for few more months. When are you planning to buy it?

I have been lusting after it more than tracking it.[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
Honestly I had no idea they had even launched a 2020 version until I came across this Flipkart listing through the TE Whatsapp group. Even searching for this specific model didn't yield anything so had to ask for the link which I then shared here.
I wanted to buy it since last year but my current Lenovo G510 just doesn't want to die and I can't justify upgrading just for the heck of it because I am a very light user. It helps that they keep making it better every generation and I hope they are still making it when my current laptop finally dies.

Just ask in that group if people have an idea about launch month of the 2020 model. Someone must know when this was launched, i can make my laptop last a few more months. But there is also a risk that the next model launches at 1 lakh.

If we were to believe this Digit article then apparently they were available to pre-order as early as 1st Jan 2020.
