Well Flipkart bend the knee...

:banghead::banghead: benco politicians.

flipkart acts like chor bazar anyways, and trying to fill he gap of aliexpress in supplying counterfeit products. flipkart main market is not urban area so its ideal move in their part.

My pov, who doesn't have bare minimum working knowledge of English should not use internet at all. we must not promote bob and vagana crowd littering all over internet.

Half of Japan should stop using the internet now according to your logic.
I think he is talking from Indian perspective where most internet content is in English. Talking about countries which have made sure that their own language is utilized more than English would be comparing apples to oranges. In India, English is the language that is common among people of different regions, so, in that context, he is right as most internet content in India is in English.

Just because it is common doesn't mean that everyone will find it easy to learn the language so labelling them as bob and vagene crowd is a bit elitist. Not supporting MNS or their methods but I don't see why making something that is used widely nowadays a bit more accessible a bad thing.

...and when public doesn't rant or want local lingo in app and are completely fine with English and Hindi who the f*** is this idiot to suggest Amazon?
Flopkart is anyways just licking arse and to act great or play safe to avoid such politico issues.

It should come naturally though. I mean, if Amazon has already made their website available in local languages then they would surely do it for other languages as well, if it would mean more profits. I understand that you don't approve of the way MNS is going about this, but I can also see what @netant was trying to say above, that since most material is in English, therefore people who can't understand the language should either learn it or stay away until more content is be made available in the language they understand. He could surely have chosen not to label them as what he did though. That was completely unnecessary.

well, my last post perceived in differently than i meant to. It was not regional languages, but those are used to keep people's information limited in this country.

Stop that whatabouism shit. Any sane person wont compare India with European , japan, china, etc,
Go talk in any of you regional language in any job interview and try securing a job.

I bet your parent has sent you "English medium"school.

What does Bob and vagene crowd mean?
Oh!! Understood...you guys are creative indeed!! Bob and vagene!!! Crazy!!!!!
I can really use this thing to some people here..this part of EU is full of bob and vagene crowd...and almost everyone is drunk from afternoon!!

How do you know rural Maharashtra users don't want something in their own language?
Not everyone does or should speak Hindi or English.

So instead of popularizing your own languages you want to push away people from using the internet entirely?

Promoting local language use is good, why not request or incentivize rather than threaten ?

Strong arming has become a part of culture in India, more I interface with public services / infrastructure, more I fell like emigrating. Had a bad experience recently with local cable mafia, they cut lines of all other broadband providers in our locality (including BSNL!) so people are forced to use their service, being in cahoots with local MLA nobody dares to oppose them.

Sometimes I feel parents in India should just teach their children to be thugs - guaranteed employment, tax free income, possibility of ruling the country and no qualification required. Show me a better job opportunity! /s

Violence is a very effective incentivizing method. /s

No. But tell me, what would you do with information you don't understand. For example, I won't know what to do if I came across a site which was in a language I didn't understand apart from using Google Translate. Even our govt websites don't support many local languages. Strong arming any entity into using a language is not something I can justify and so if the people can't learn a language, then they would either need to learn it or use tools like Google Translate, if possible. Amazon isn't a necessity and if people can't understand English, how would they even order stuff and use online banking services to pay for their orders.
This is just an unnecessary show of force from a party that is known for such parlor tricks.

I do recall Amazon app would have option to choose a language before setting up the app. So if Hindi and English were given, I don't think it will be an issue to give Marathi too given both are based on Devnagri script.
If MNS was really concerned then they would have had a dialogue with Amazon reps.. But then it's MNS.
Amazon would be more than willing to introduce Marathi language as it gives them an opportunity to tap into tier-2,3 markets.
