How about just a vip only lounge....where the vip member has the liberty to open a sale thread exclusive to only vip lounge or a public sale thread. The vip lounge can have other perks like chitchat, exclusive go deals, etc.

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to split a forum's basic functions into 2 cliques. You get fewer members posting in the regular forum, and as more and more migrate to the restricted part, public discussion dies and the forum with it. The restricted part becomes an echo chamber.

"VIP", "Premium", "Trusted", all of these adjectives are problematic in that they imply that the forum staff, or members as a broad group, support or trust the persons posting there. Since the criteria is based on time on forum/posts on forum, this is completely untrue and these adjectives shouldn't be used. Since a name can't really get across what exactly the criteria are, just call them Level 1 and Level 2 and be done with it. Add a short description somewhere that mentions the criteria.

[Also, was visibility restricted for this section? If not, where can I find it?] Never mind I was trying to find it in by going to Buy Sell Trade in the top nav bar.

Additionally, how about doing something on the lines of verified members?

Secondly, if someone can step up and offer escrow services, would be great. @iPwnz

The word "Premium" being used makes it sound like the forum charges a member a fee for posting FS thread or any sale done in that section.
It could named "Trusted Classifieds" with unrestricted visiblity, but only allowing veteran members to post threads.

That way the veteran's opportunity to find a buyer isn't restricted because anyone can pursue through messages.
This is not a bad idea at all.
And the people who are only here for the marketplace would be limited to the regular classifieds section.
If possible I'd like for new members to participate in other sections to be able to access the new section. But as another new member said, they could spam just to reach the criteria. So "Pay2Access", a nominal weekly/monthly fee (depending on how active they want to be) for new members is also a viable option. The money could be used to create merch for forum members via giveaways.

A suggestion from my side is, let new members be able to see the items being sold i.e. only the thread title but they shouldn't have access to the actual content inside nor see who the seller is.

This may be frustrating but this should make them pay up! :hilarious:

I'll be honest, this is going to be a pain. The only (possible way?) I think that may work is if whoever handles the services put up one fixed pricing and if anyone is interested can buy. If not the potential buyer can leave. I only recently learned how insane the lowballing here is and I don't think anyone will want to waste his time negotiating or bargaining on someone's behalf. I've explained this here. No offence to anyone.

The actual buyer and seller would be the ones bargaining and finalising the deal right? By escrow services the middle man just handles the transactions. That seems like a good idea when sales are made by new members.
Obviously more work for the mods but they could charge like 1-2% of the sale amount

It's not just work. It's opening yourself up to a lot of risk and inconvenience for really insignificant sums. Leave escrow to facebook groups and actual escrow services.

May have encountered an unintentional bug with premium classifieds.
I bought apple dac from @SunnyBoi, posted in premium classifieds. But I am unable to comment on thread, so won’t be able to leave feedback.

Only those with more than 1K posts can reply there.

What if the so called trusted year old member himself scams around?
Nor that section subscription fee will be anything more than a few bucks nor is his aadhar etc. be latched anywhere.
We have already exp. many trusted sellers running their loots around for reselling etc.

Doesn't sound foolproof to me.

"Exclusive " instead of Premium?
Don't know when this was changed from Premium to Exclusive, I think it was recent. A good change, Exclusive is better.
But I feel visibility should be restricted, else it's not really exclusive (Adept for now and later extend to Skilled? Or Disciple at the minimum of for now). It should be up to the seller/OP to decide when they want to move the thread to the normal section instead of it being automatic (after a specific time period).

Maybe there will come a day when the Exclusive Section has a lot of good deals and we see the newer members go: What exclusive? Where? Me wants. And seeing the high requirements they'll be forced to actually use the forums first.

But since the normal marketplace is open to all, those merely looking to sell and don't care who the buyer is (the majority?) won't really be bothered with Exclusive I guess.
