CPU/Mobo Reinstall OS after motherboard change?

Hey all, I moved from an MSI x570 to an Aorus x570 board, also an upgrade from 5600x to a 5800x, Considering I had Dragon Center installed, do you guys think I should do a fresh install of Windows 10?

I'm seeing erratic boot times, hence the question..

You should, considering how much of a clusterf*** Windows becomes over time even without hardware changes.

However, @Slayer88 could also perform a sysprep generalize to remove all hardware related data (including drivers) from the existing installation to streamline the process. Since NT 6.x, the Windows HAL is smart enough to handle major hardware change on the fly.

Thanks man. Will look into this. Hate backing up savegames, else would have done this is a jiffy.

Any worthy reasons to move to 21H1 ?

And yes, Unlike in the WinXP age, where Windows would simply not boot after HW changes, gotta love that !

Being a regular user of a consumer SKU of Windows, you seriously have no choice other than sticking with the Microsoft's update scheme. As a result, always opt for the latest release.

Re. backing up saved games, you could use something like this.

Agree with everyone for installing fresh windows, I am in same boat and need to transfer my program files and OS onto 2 SSD's I've bought, so fresh install is the best option rather than moving image and other stuffs.
Agree about Save games/installed softwares installation time, but for me its the time that it takes to customize everything as per your preference

I never back up, reinstallation is best. You need one anyway. Even an updated windows does not work properly. If possible format ssd/hdd with GPT partition type and do it. It is boring but will give a lot less issues in the future.

How do u manage game progress when you format? And yes, I'll do a fresh install with GPT. Thanks
 
there is a simple way , just get the new windows image double click to mount and install (make sure you have enough space in your os partition) .This will be a new os /correct set of drivers cpu microcodes etc without backup jhan jhat etc ,and there are good tools on fossbyte to remove windows apps and the apps to be completely removed .

so you kill two birds with a one stone
