Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH-CF mobo misbehaving, Need new replacement. under 8k to 10k (Intel Socket 1155 lga, DDR3 4x RAM Modules, onboard and dedicat GPU)

Hello @Futureized might I suggest this board

I was in the same boat as you as I built 2 sandy bridge system for my cousins and they both died due to motherboard issues and I used this board to replace them.

They were on h67 motherboard but couldn't find a replacement and was almost finalizing a gigabyte h61 motherboard but it came with lot of compromises especially lack of USB 3.

B75 chipset is much better than the h61 go for this board I have re built 2 machines using these and they have been rock solid for more than a year

Otherwise you can buy something of AliExpress if that's possible for you to get old refurbished board

What's the pcie version on this?

Sure will ask my cousins to check , looked at the webpage they didn't mention the PCIE gen in specs
Hey I confirmed it is PCIE gen 3 on the x16 slot and PCIE gen 2 on others which i guess is more than fine for any kind of system you can build with old sandybridge and ivy bridge CPUs
most probably it will e PCIE Gen 2
Yes combination of gen 3 and gen 2

Add another 10 to 12k and u can easily build a pc with i3 12100f + h610 + ddr4

or i5 10400f + h510 + ddr4.

u can get a TPlink pcie wifi + bluetooth card on amazon.in for around 2200

Just building the same pc for a cousin sister , the cheapest Mobo and i3 12100 combo is more than 18k plus DDR4 8gb and other stuff is well above 25k territory at minimum.

It's better and cost effective to repair a old system if replacement part is available at sensible price also better for environment imho.

Old Intel quad cores are still capable machine for basic office tasks and some light gaming

Chinese Chip Shortage still exists....

Agreed but putting 10k to repair platform which was launched 10 years ago is still a bad move today......anyone can easily build i3 10100f (6100) + h510 mobo (5500) + ddr4 (8gb - 2800) for 15k.

yes its futile to repair something if repair itself is becoming expensive than a new system , ultimately it depends upon the budget really.

Just an update:

I understand your budget is restricted to 10K, but do consider stretching just a bit. You can pick up a Ryzen 3200G+basic motherboard+16GB DDR4 for around 20K.
The difference is 10K, and you should be able to recoup around maybe 6-6.5K from selling CPU+RAM+old mobo, I guess.

The power supply is also very overpowered for your system. Depending on which one it is, you might be able to sell it, buy a decent branded 400-450W PSU and still have enough left over to cover the 3.5 - 4k deficit above.

Like rsaeon said, no use in clinging to the old gen. 3200G isn't exactly new, but it's newer than the 3rd gen intel and a DDR4 platform, and what you buy will all be in warranty.
Another thing, if your RAM fails tomorrow, you might need to spend more, and DDR3 is scarce and expensive these days. OTOH, you should still be able to find buyers easily for your current DIMMs if they're in working condition.
I should have followed your suggestion about 20K system..

Apparently seems I wasted money and again this motherboard is giving stability issues:
CMOS battery dies every week and because of this, every time i boot it gives Option to load optimized defaults and boot.
Additional PCI wifi card which came alongwith motherboard is dead (had to purchase tplink wireless USB adapter which is not working again, given for replacement)
Purchased tplink bluetooth dongle as PCI card dongle bluetooth is not working.

Almost wasted additional 5K till now and still no stability

It feels like some components on your mobo went partially bad in a way that they are killing other hardware with them.

Totally agree.
A very well experienced engineer is needed to fix the board BUT not worth it.
Not worth it at all !

but he bought the board new first thing is to get it returned or rma'ed
I think OP is referring to Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH-CF mobo.

=====

I would just suggest to buy an el cheapo under warranty or new a320 mobo and get an Athlon 200GE from this guy https://techenclave.com/threads/ope...invoice-and-full-warranty.204308/post-2386489

Using same old board https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z77X-UP5-TH-rev-10#ov

hi @mzsa1994 Absolutely correct.
CMOS battery dies every week (PC works fine without installing new battery though)
Just have to click "Load Optimized Defaults and Boot" every time after BIOS screen.

Motherboard has 4 RAM slots, using 2x 8 GB stick = 16 GB total
(2 ram slots were already dead, now even 3rd slot giving issues ONCE/TWICE, PC auto-shuts down randomly)
After debugging a lot, found about same:
Started with Windows Even Viewer logs
Then checked C:\Windows\Minidump which indicated memory (RAM) corruption.
Tested both RAM sticks with Memtest86 pro on last two working slots, where third slot was making PC shut down after testing for 30+ minutes (failed on PASS 1/4)

This 2 major issues are making system unstable.

Removed PCI Wifi Expansion as it was not working and no bluetooth support
(bought TP-Link USB connectors for this workaround)

Hello @iosoft
Last got this old motherboard repaired 2-3 years ago, no BIOS screen.
Engineers from Jogeshwari West (Mumbai) fixed the same within 24 hours or 1200 INR.
I hope, if I should get this 2 issues mentioned above repaired as well ? If under 2K

Thanks for suggestion but, cant spend more at present. Motherboard is LGA 1155, changing motherboard/process means getting all 3 things CPU/MOBO/RAM..

did you purchase the board new again? or are you getting it repaired?

i thought the discusion last time was along the lines of getting a new cheap LGA1155 board.

motherboard repair is really tricky wont advise it at all unless it is something exotic and replacement is not a option.

the best bet it to buy a new replacement board and i had linked to b75 board by zebronics which are much better than any h61 option and works good as per my experience

you can buy directly from them or through amazon thus getting replacement option.

please stop wasting any money on board repair.
