Buying Apple Products From Dubai

You are entitled to it, assuming you're on a tourist visa. Won't work if someone on a work visa buys stuff for you and tries to claim it while flying back to India.
Okay, thanks for your reply! You get the VAT refund when leaving Dubai airport itself, there is no connection to Indian customs right?

Correct, there should be a booth in Dubai airport before you check-in - not sure if anything has changed because of Corona though.

Bumping this thread as I will be travelling to Dubai in October this year.
I see youtube videos on shops in Bur Dubai and such.
Requesting people who have experience to tell me which is a reliable shop(s) there in Bur Dubai area? Buying from apple store is futile as it is going to be same or only little less price than India.

I am planning to buy Series 7 45mm GPS watch and possibly iPhone 13 for my wife.

If not the shops, then is Amazon.ae or noon.com reliable? Will they deliver to hotel?

Apple watch series 7 45mm GPS I am seeing is around 1300-1400 AED which is more than 10k less than India price (not through official apple store though).

Check online on noon, sharafdg and carrefour.
many items have next day delivery, else order beforehand and call your hotel to keep at concierge desk for pickup later

I have read about people getting ripped off by used and such devices in Bur Dubai. About the various shops who post youtube videos, I guess they won't be negotiating much due to their popularity as a result of youtube and also those who buy and post video from these shops may show bias in return of greater disocunt and such.

The shops you mentioned are all popular nationwide (not like individual shop in specific area) and I know they should be trustworthy. Does visiting Sharaf Dg or carrefour and buying also make sense? Both seem not very far from my hotel location.

Yeah, just check prices online as well as store availability..
Sometimes the items on the site are also fulfilled by third party sellers and there may be a variance between store and online prices .
Not sure if they have order online and pick from store options available..that too may be worth checking

Is there any limit on the electronics item we carry from dubai to India?

There is definitely and I am sure customs on airports are always trying to catch hold of people bringing packed piece. Most people recommend to remove packaging and bring. Like in my case, I am planning to buy Apple watch so I won't be wearing my current watch and go there and once I buy new one there, I will have to throw the box and all and wear the watch and come. If bringing phone, put in pocket..

what about buying ps5 console or Macbook?

what about buying ps5 console or Macbook?
My friend brought in a PS5 all boxed up, carrying it with him 2-3 months back from DXB and through Delhi custom, and didn't face any issue. (I'll anyway reconfirm and update if there was any detail that I might have missed)

Edit - Had to throw away the packaging. Carried in cabin baggage.

My cousin bought a Macbook from US a year back with full box package but came through in the check-in baggage as she was already carrying 2 laptops in the cabin baggage. No question was asked by Bangalore airport custom. They won't much bother about single piece of laptop/phone or watch. Mostly I've seen if you carry excess alcohol above the limit the baggage is usually marked and detained for a baggage search.
