Racing/Driving Simulation Games Suggestions

I've just purchased a racing wheel setup and I'm looking for games that best simulates real world physics, mechanics & automobiles.

I've been playing FH4 for while, but it feels like they've designed the game with just controller in mind. There are a few issues I was able to notice so far, like - While shifting using the lever, clutch automatically engages momentarily. So there basically is no mis-shifts.

I currently have BeamNG.drive & Assetto Corsa in mind. Let me know your thoughts & experience.

Thanks!

Forza Motorsport, Dirt Rally 2.0 is better compared to the usual Dirt series cause the Rally series is more simulation-oriented, F1 ofc, iRacing (subscriptions and buying cars will suck you in and you'll probably spend a lot of money than what you might have thought.) Assetto Corsa Competizione is a good shout (limited selection of cars, imagine F1 but touring cars) Not sure about the The Crew, tried on controller, was fun, not sure how good it is on a steering wheel.

Suggestions, for Assetto Corsa, use a mod manager (you can DM me, there's a link to a guide I used) and the game, graphics, everything becomes infinitely better.
Euro truck simulator 2 & American truck simulator initially you might feel it to be boring but lateron it will grip you..
Also, get a bunch of mods for these games as well (and if possible, the DLCs, they add so much value, especially the map DLCs, not the accessories and all)

Get game pass ultimate using the conversion trick (idk if it's still valid) and then you have Forza Motorsport, Grid legends, F1 22. These games are plenty fun to play on a wheel.

Thank you all for the responses so far!

Have only tried Mudrunner & Euro truck simulator till now; both deceptively simple looking! Will look into the rest soon.

As many others have said here, I'd also like to suggest Assetto Corsa. I am someone who has spent atleast a few hundred hours on that game before my wheel broke, its such a great game for the price(esp. as it goes on sale for only a few hundred rupees). The community support is unreal with so many great mods. Maybe its not as hardcore as some others but its such a fun experience.

Hey, I'm interested and since the discussion is on-topic then why not post here?
Defo, lemme share it:
2021 Assetto Corsa Mod Install Guide | Content Manager, CSP, Sol, Tracks & Cars - YouTube

I hope it helps! :) This is what I used and ofc, there are multiple Discord servers that have more mods and there are tons of things one can do to improve the game, custom race servers, cruise servers, insane amount of tracks, it's a rabbithole basically. You can always add me on Steam, FXGalvatron.

Tried Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally 2.0 & F1 22 - best FFB I've experienced yet! MudRunner still takes most-hours-spent spot.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. This should keep myself plenty busy for a while.

pics or it didn't happen :p

But seriously... I have g29 lying in a box almost new and since I don't have dedicated setup for it or a place to keep it assembled I don't use it since it's a chore to unbox it, connect and use just for a while and then disconnect and re-pack everything into the box and keep it out of the way.

How do you guys have set it up? Do you do the same chore or have dedicated setups on stands etc?

I bought a used G27 via Olx for 6.5k. I currently just have it clamped on to my archaic desk. It's definitely not ergonomic; but if I spend enough time using this, I'll look into a different setup. Attached a pic I took earlier just to flex on a friend.

then disconnect and re-pack everything into the box and keep it out of the way.
Why do you have to do this? How much in the way is it getting?

(sombu for scale xD)

Got a decent enough setup there.

Well about how much in the way it gets...
1) I don't like keeping it in front of the monitor when not in use. It hinders the display and/or streaming video content.
2) I don't have a desk which holds the keyboard under the top surface in a drawer.

My keyboard/mouse is on same level as monitor so if I install the wheel I have to push back the keyboard farther towards the monitor to make space for the wheel and thus making it difficult to use PC normally if wheel is installed.

It is a chore but I keep the pedals on the floor (screwed to a wooden box) and the wheel in its cardboard box. I would rather spend 5 minutes everytime than spend another 30k on making a permanent set-up.

  1. Start with a second monitor and mount your wheel to the side, where it won't interfere with your regular PC usage.

  2. Once you're having fun, and realize you're having trouble with the chair/pedals sliding away under hard braking, invest in a wheel stand or simrig for amazing ergonomics. The more comfortable you are, the more fun simracing becomes, and the longer your driving sessions can be.

This is useful info, thanks! Is a triple monitor setup worth it, though? I'm not looking to upgrade anytime soon, but I was thinking a 55" TV setup would be a nice upgrade. Two extra monitors just for peripheral vision sounds like overkill to me. Do all games support and fully make use of triple monitors?

Bro try Project cars and Automobilista along with Asseto corsa
Will try, thanks.

Also, have to take this back.
There seems to be some sort of bug in the steam version of FH4, which I use, where the G27's clutch input is not detected. From what I could find on other forums, the MS store's version works fine with the G27, apparently due to it being a UWP application.
So, I was using Direct Input with the combined axis mapped to clutch. My guess is that I'd forgotten to re-calibrate after removing window's G27 drivers. I tried the game sometime later, after proper calibration & deadzone assignment the game works fine.

Mods, could you please merge this and this thread? There seems to be lot of overlap.
