What features or improvements do you wish the market section and the market feedback system had?

Please pitch in based on your experiences. This will help give direction to the plug-in development for Discourse as any popular suggestions can be incorporated from day 1 or planned ahead.

A built-in rating/review system with seller verification would be great for trust and a way to filter listings by reputation. Better dispute resolution tools could also help keep transactions smooth.

I do have a couple of suggestions for marketplace section:
  1. Some kind of auction system to be provided similar to as what ebay gives this will attrack more buyers
  2. Genunie Escrow service which can be utilized for larger deals probably
  3. For increased trust and limiting fraud, seller verification using Aadhar OTP and bank account details.

market feedback
I feel that the current feedback system is very restrictive. Positive, neutral or negative feedback gives very little information. We have several instances where the seller was not responsive enough, or the shipping was unduly delayed, packaging was very poor, etc. We could probably have 3 or 4 different categories for each sale feedback. Like, rating for communication, for shipping, overall, etc. Similarly for buyers too. Others would probably chip in with better suggestions.

I am looking at this purely from a visitor perspect and not a programming perspective. I would love the forum and the market place to evolve and do well. I would love to contribute in some form. So here are some suggestions.
  1. The first thing is probably a separation between the number of sales and number of purchases made. Someone can have a high-rating by buying stuff - which is probably not useful for deciding if someone is a trustworthy seller.
  2. Nature of Sales - Selling a coupon vs Selling a PC/Hardware are diffrenent things.
  3. Value of Sales - A high value sale should have more weight than a low value sale.
These are the, in my book the more important ones. There are others too, but I would love to know what the others think of these.

To enhance market feedback collection in forums, features like dedicated feedback sections, clear categorization, voting systems, user profiles, response tracking, topic tagging, sentiment analysis, integration with support systems, and proactive moderation can be implemented, allowing for efficient gathering and analysis of customer opinions and pain points, leading to improved product development and members satisfaction.
Key Features:
  • Dedicated Feedback Sections: Create specific areas within the forum dedicated to collecting feedback on products, features, and services, allowing users to easily submit their opinions without clutter.
  • Categorization and Tagging: Implement a system for users to categorize their feedback using relevant tags, enabling efficient sorting and analysis based on topic, issue type, or product area, or product type.
  • Voting System: Allow users to upvote or downvote feedback to indicate the level of agreement or importance of an issue, helping prioritize feedback based on community sentiment.
  • User Profiles: Enable users to create profiles with detailed information about their usage patterns and needs, providing richer context to their feedback.
  • Response Tracking: Implement a system to track responses from the user to user feedback, demonstrating responsiveness and keeping users informed about action taken.
  • Sentiment Analysis: Utilize tools to analyze the sentiment of feedback, identifying positive, negative, or neutral opinions to gauge overall members satisfaction.
Improvements for Better Feedback Collection:
  • Guided Feedback Prompts: Provide structured prompts or questions within feedback sections to encourage users to give detailed and relevant feedback.
  • Feedback Surveys: Integrate occasional surveys within the forum to gather more in-depth feedback on specific aspects of the products or services.
  • Integration with Support System: Link forum feedback with the members support system to enable seamless transition between discussions and ticket creation.
  • Community Moderation: Actively manage the forum to ensure discussions stay on topic, address spam, and maintain a positive community atmosphere.
  • Regular Feedback Summaries: Periodically share summaries of collected feedback with the community, demonstrating transparency and commitment to acting on user input.
Benefits of Enhanced Market Feedback:
  • Improved Product Development: By understanding members needs and pain points directly from the forum, forums can prioritize features and improvements that truly resonate with their users.
  • Increased Customer Satisfaction: Actively engaging with customer feedback in a forum shows a commitment to listening and responding to user concerns, enhancing customer loyalty.
  • Market Insights: Forums provide valuable insights into market trends, competitors products analysis, and emerging customers or members needs.
  • Cost-Effective Research: Utilizing a forum as a feedback mechanism can be a cost-effective tool to all forum members in order to research, discuss, buy or sell the products.

I feel the current system of feedback and rating works pretty well but agree on the above that a differentiation between buy and sell would be helpful. Look at ways to automate the enforcement of the rules and guidelines.
On top of everything, there should be way to migrate all the existing feedback and rating.

Yes, Regarding enforcement of rules also automation is required as you said & definitely migration of all members existing feedback and rating is a must.
ChatGPT will not know the nuances of TechEnclave. It will give generic feedback only which will be unrealistic or pointless to implement here.
Sorry man. I always take advices of TE members 1st regarding electronics sometimes my life decisions also as TE has become a part of my life like a big extended family of sorts.
But when I want anything more depth I use Gemini AI. That's all.
My kid uses ChatGPT extensively but I don't use it.

I really like these points and I had similar things in mind, thanks for putting it so well.

Seller feedback and buyer feedback should be separated clearly. As a buyer, I don't care if the seller I'm buying from has a large number of successful buys. That number doesn't tell me anything if the seller will be helpful after the money has been exchanged.

Man, I really like some of your posts and threads. You are a diligent member and many of us appreciate it. But please cut down on generic ChatGPT slop. If you can add your personal touch to it, it is fine. I am not completely against AI generated content, but it has to be productive and positive contribution. Please take it as constructive feedback.

Okay will do man.
Presently my kid is using my PC for her 9th exams AI paper and I am typing on my phone so used Gemini AI. Won't use it. Will post constructive opinions from now on.

These are good suggestions.

More suggestion of what I can think right now:

1) It would be great if we can have some kind of a queue up option for someone who is interested to buy and are waiting for product to get back in stock. Of course this should only be private to the OP and the potential buyer.
2) Some kind of data tracking to show number of buyers and repeat buyers, if possible.

There should probably be a limit on the number of feedback per thread. Some accumulate a lot of positive feedback in a short time by reselling coupons or vouchers as opposed to those selling personal high value items over several years. Specifically, a differentiation between shipped and non-shipped items is essential.

Also, a separate rating over the past 6 or 12 months would be a helpful indicator of recent activity and experience.

All this can be handled if there is a restriction on number of items per thread. Quantity can vary but the value cannot. If the quantity is more than one then it can be treated as a reseller and have a separate reseller rating. But if there are multiple products then have multiple threads. Same amount of information is being entered in one thread, so separate threads can be created. Will be easier for someone to search in respective sub category as well.

Just a suggestion for the newly created Garage section, where it's more or less an auction; perhaps some sort of bidding system where interested parties can enter bids and there's a live counter of sorts showing the highest bid; or the bid that seller is considering for whatever reason. Of course, sellers get to see all the details of who bid what and all.

How about something like this - There are some members who are supremely helpful with good, sage advice, with a calm demeanor, and constructive contributions.

Why not add something like a "helpful" reaction that carries 2 points instead of one? This would encourage newer members who want to climb the ranks to put in more meaningful posts, instead of the generic "+1" garbage.

On the flipside, this may also get abused in some way. Maybe only senior/older/respected members have access to give this reaction to anyone they wish.

I think an additional feature that would make sense is to have "Fair Market Pricing" or "Suggested Pricing" because I've seen some people ask 2x the ongoing price of a product they are selling vs whats available in the market, so for such uses who "do not need money" or "just saw the price of new online and reduced a few thousands bucks from it" it would be give them a reality check as to what the best prices should be for their items, off course they can still set it at whatever they believe that it will sell at, but at least they will have a rough range?
