Which AC to choose?

The fan speed of the AC as well does not have impact on the compressor and hence very little impact on the power consumption.

A ceiling fan spreads the air across the room. I was mentioning a specific scenario where you are alone in a room. In those cases 40% compressor capacity at even 27 degrees with low fan speed is enough if the blow is directed towards you.

The main point is that having a higher tonnage AC with variable capacity and multi directional vents is enough to cover all scenarios compared to people purchasing a slightly lower fixed capacity AC.
 
mitsubishi heavy > mitsubishi > daikin/o general.

end of discussion if budget is not a constraint.
can recommend panasonic and lg inverters as well in the budget range.
anything out of this is luck / a toss of a coin.

i stick to mitsubishis. panasonic if less used.
nothing less than 5 star and inverter for long term peace of mind.

mitsubishi installs are another 7k on top, nothing is free.

agree but let me add 2 more if someone avoids these 3 due to budget issues [ Mitsubishi and o general are costly af]

mitsubishi heavy > mitsubishi > daikin/o general > bluestar> carrier.
got 2 Bluestar installed last summer and they cool a lot better than daikin

daikin quality has gone down when they started to manufacture in India

Jokes aside, I bought 3 LG's 5 star 1 ton AC last year and they are good. Might be outside of your budget though. I also gave a detailed review somewhere on this forum if you wanna dig and find out.

Only use ceiling fan if room is not on the top floor with direct sunlight touching the roof of it. Ceiling fan will pull the air that's above it and push it down and if the ceiling is hot then you are making it worse not better. Same principle will apply if its instead a side wall that's getting direct sunlight (but to a lesser effect).
Can't decide? Just touch the ceiling with your hand a few hours after peak hours (3-4pm, by then the ceiling will be hottest after absorbing the sunlight for few hours).

yeah, not on top floor. Good to know, i guess avoid top floor apartments.
 
I ordered the M-series Blue Star 1.5 ton 3 star split Inverter AC yesterday. I had heard great things about the LG ACs but the one in budget had lower actual tonnage/cooling capacity (4400 vs 4800/5000). Let's see how this one performs since this is replacing a 10-year-old Blue Star AC which had average performance.

I think in terms of performance og is the best … check indiamart if any nearby wholesaler available … i have heard daikin has gone south since manufacturing in Rajasthan … in terms of build quality godrej is also good
 
So I recently purchased one - I was looking for below considerations:
  • dual swing - vertical & horizontal swing
  • smart options - like using app to control AC
  • bigger ac mouth width for better spread
  • auto clean options like dehumidification / purification by heating up the coils and killing any moulds or dirty air
  • decent customer care
So I ended up with samsung

Samsung 1.5 Ton 3 Star Wi-fi Enabled, Inverter Split AC (Copper, Convertible 5-in-1 Cooling Mode, Anti-bacterial Filter, AR18CY3YAWK White) for 33k after cc discounts.​

So you can control the AC with wifi enabled phone right?
 
My brother went with a Panasonic 1.5T 3 star 2024 model btw, locally bought. Cost was about 34k before installation. Don't know exact model no but it was one which came with 5 year warranty on the ODU. I asked him to choose that over 2025 AI model which didn't have any warranty on the odu.
PS: model is CS/CU-EU18AKY3XF i believe

Samsung had evaporator issue where I cool mode got moist smell they replaced in 2 days and now all good. Installation did bad job where pipe was coming back from outlet
