I once had to appear before a judge in a local court for a crime that I had committed.

My crime? I rode my two-wheeler with pillion. That was in 2021 lockdown when it was not allowed. And, it wasn't only the seat I was sharing with my pillion, but according to the Indian court, 2 people sitting on a bike somehow spread COVID.

Anyway, I confessed to the crime to the justice who was remote working through zoom. I was ordered to pay a fine of 500. I came outside to pay that. The cop, however, demanded 1300. I inquired why. He told me writer se leke upar judge tak sabka commission including hai.

I could have avoided all this trouble if I didn't let the cop confiscate my driving license.
Me and my sister once took a taxi from a park after family outing as they were heading different direction.

The taxi in those days had meter but not digital ones so we discuss the price with them at the start only.

Then as we drove away after our goodbyes.
..the taxi guy started demanding more money.
I said no way...joh baat Hui unltna hi denge.

He took us through same lanes in Salt Lake ( Kolkata) is anyone is from Kolkata will know Salt Lake is very confusing specially for people not staying there .

He dropped us at a city mall 50 meters from police booth.

And said pay.
I said no way you didn't drop us where we wanted to go. You dropped us where you wanted to go.

We got physical ..luckily I asked my sister to go across the road and be in the crowd.

As we got in pushing and all. Other Taxi wala came and started gharoing us..and they almost got close to me.

Till police came and put both of us down on ground and took us to police station.

Within 5 mins the taxi walas union came to save him. While my family was arranging lawyer and other contacts.

He even went to say that I was doing wrong things at the back of the taxi .

Police was almost upon me but my family managed a high court judge called the police station and get the case closed.

Without contact I would have been falsely accused that day .

Next day I had to gift the judge box of dry fruits set costing me Rs 3500 something as a token of thanks.

The taxi wala was asking Rs 200 when we got into fighting.

Imagine this..I paid 3500 without any fault and taxi wala got away thanks to his union baji.

Next time I might just give 200-300 only.

I can't believe you didn't recognize this or haven't seen it before.

Really day after day when I think "Ab isse jyada kya hi bura ho jayega desh main", I got another depressing news.
- Few animals are raping left, right, centre
- Neta's filling their locker like uppar le ke jayenge
- Youth are not able to find naukri
- Gaali-Galotch, Unclean society, Roads
- Civic sense

I mean literally what are those things which I can proudly say about our country or myself as well.
I might have missed it.

I have Russian coming for trekking and all...I'm bit worried and giving them all the information I can do that they don't get cheated and avoid traffics etc ..

Like take metro from here. Use uber avoid this and that. Try to reach early if you taking bus.

I don't want them to have bad experience even though recently many foreigners are not so happy with Indian visit.

On youtube and all to get likes and views from India they may say good things but when they write blogs and all in their language they have some negative things about India too which is clearly saying...avoid India.

Any advocate worth their salt would always suggest to solve the matter within yourselves and to not involve police/judiciary.

And a lesson for you from next time, don't get physical with these moronic dehatis, chote log chote hi rahenge, they'll never change, also if something like this happens again, immediately stop the cab and get off of it, and start recording on your phone. recording is your greatest weapon, even the biggest netas are scared of a mobile phone, specially in these days of social media where even an innocent video can be taken out of context and invite judiciary action.

And I don't know about Kolkata, but atleast anything happens in UP, call 112 and communicate the issue to them, a case gets registered when you do so and it creates a paper trail, these thulle will either not register a FIR or demand money from you, but nothing lights a fire under their asses than a paper trail because then they gotta submit a report on the action they took after 112 call.

And lastly, you learned the best lesson any businessman in India learns in their first week, "akele katoge, Saath bachoge", you'll always be screwed alone, you need people who will stand with you if you want to survive in India and even anywhere in the world tbh

This is bound to happened when govt. total focus is on taxing middle class as much as possible. Specially salaried people because there they already have a process or easy to tax them. However mostly middle class is spender on these kind of services.
It's just like jo office main jyada kaam karta hai, usse aur jyada kaam milta hai.

Pune, 3rd May 2025: Just a day after its grand inauguration, the newly constructed flyover on Sinhagad Road witnessed severe traffic congestion, defeating its very purpose of easing the local commute. The flyover, expected to cut travel time to under five minutes, ended up causing delays of over 30 minutes as vehicles piled up in long queues stretching nearly a kilometre from the Vadgaon Signal Bridge.

Quoting myself,
...India suffers from it. It means the development is never done, it's always in process. Politicians show you cool dream of development, which for example, includes building a bridge. That bridge creates more problems than it solves as there was no study was done beforehand. Now, to solve those new problems, new supplementary bridges/underground roads are built. The development never stops. These new developments/tunnels etc become obsolete even before they are completed...

This is a dangerous trend.

Still, I think, what's happening in India isn't comparable with China. China didn't overlook its main cities while building infra out in the nowhere.

Although yellow cabs can be a hassle sometimes, they are still slightly cheaper than app-based aggregators. No matter how frustrated I may get at some of their behavior, I always stay polite. It works every time because they can only do so much when you're calm. They can't even play the blame game, then. The cabbie will back off himself. It works every time for me.

I think one of my rants from another thread fits better in this one.

Being a Civil Engineer who left the field due to extreme corruption, malpractices, human exploitation, and whatnot, I can confidently say that the infrastructure industry of this country is rotten to the core. Every contractor, whether small or a big player, needs to be stripped of their license, and a new system should take its place.
Licenses should only be granted to those who can follow rules and maintain standards.

Civil engineering courses need to be overhauled; the current ones create inept engineers.

Just one example:

A couple of my civil engineering batchmates were employed by a contractor who took a small project of laying a sewer line under the Swachh Ganga Abhiyan in a small village in UP along the bank of the Ganga river.
They were the only engineers in the company.
My batchmates were freshers, and the company was new (it was created solely for looting money) and therefore had no knowledge or experience in designing and laying sewer lines.
The company had to construct almost 150 manholes and sewer lines across that small village, and that line had to be connected to a major sewer line so that the flow of untreated sewage would be directed to a treatment plant.

Due to zero experience, planning, and extreme greed and corruption, they laid the sewer only in a small portion of that village with around 20 manholes. Some homes were flooded with sewage because the slope of the sewer line was not proper.

A government engineer who came to inspect was served chai pani, after which the department released approximately 70-75% of their money! The remaining amount was kept as security, just in case the work done by the company was not up to standard or might require some repairs.
But that company had already made enough money, so they didn't really care about that remaining amount, and then they vanished.
That company and the employment of my batchmates only lasted a few months.

Guess what—one of my batchmates started taking government contracts after that, and the first contract he took was for laying sewer lines!

After completing my B.Tech, I worked in a small construction company in Gurgaon as a junior site engineer.
I had a mental and emotional breakdown in just two months because of the extreme work hours, malpractices, just three holidays a month (yes, just three, and no Sundays), and that too, I had to take permission from the company. If some major work was going on at the site, they wouldn't grant those holidays, etc.

All the batchmates who got into the construction field faced similar problems, and 90%, including myself, quit the field.

The infrastructure of this country is built upon the BLOOD of poor, exploited people.

Enough of my rant. I should go to sleep now :(

Probably a politician wanted a vanity project airport to show his people he is some big guy - The corruption monies obviously goes to his team, contractors, officials, etc. etc. It's huge buzziness forwarding India's growth.
Airport does not have enough passengers - after spending hundreds of millions in maintenance and corruption loses, govt. now put it to auction to pvt. party.
Auction obviously happens at very lower cost - benefit to pvt. party, those who are part of auction and the winner grease hand of the politician appropriately, still winner is politician, his team and officials involved.
Only losers are tax paying public obviously.

Great comment from a related video

India is on the rise.

India is projected to become the world's third-largest economy within the next three years.

Losing India means losing influence in Asia.

Treat India as an equal-avoid any superiority complex. People respond negatively when they feel looked down upon.

India has always been a wealthy civilization despite a difficult past. Without significant outside help, it has already become the fourth-largest economy within 75 years only after having the poorest population.

By around 2070 to 2080, India is poised to become the world's richest nation. While that may seem distant in terms of a human lifespan, it's a short span in the life of a nation.

If America embraces India as a genuine friend and strategic partner, its global position will remain secure

But if America loses India, it could face serious consequences. A strengthened India-China alliance might trigger a real push toward de-dollarization-because these are the only two economies with the scale to challenge U.S. dominance in the future.

India should not be feared or misjudged as another China. Indians are a different kind of people-loyal in friendship, less ideologically aggressive, and not inclined toward betrayal, unlike what some might say about American foreign conduct.

Above all, never make the mistake of underestimating them. They are far from naive.

Having a setup of business infrastructure is the right time in india

With recent incidents happening and rapidly rising in cases, if you look at my first comment on Page 1, i have covered a large part of the issues that is making India a sinking ship. When i raised a concern on the reservation, someone said that there is a "barbaric caste system" in place and "Inter-caste marriage" is the solution. Let me refine it more.

I have studied in government school and private both. i have sit and studied with people with all castes in government school and there was no casteism at all despite they were given free raw meals in school. caste system might have been a thing before but it is no longer now. even it exists, the financial position of a higher caste is not always good. i identify people as people.

Inter-caste marriage is not a solution. It is upto a family or a person to decide whom he/she wants to marry. There is also a thing called gens, Parents gens play an important role on a child. it pass through generations. this can have characters, features, disabilities too. the mind of a child also develop based on the parents characters. No family would risk their future.

Again if you think reservation is doing anything good, then let you know that this is the real "barbaric reservation system" we are even seeing after 50-60years of reservation and with recent caste census, just take a deep breath and think. A non-merit, uneducated person with no intelligence teaching your child, treating your health issues, working on your company with no skill , adding no value getting paid for nothing. Getting everything reserved for their generations.

I don't hate anyone but just think about it, how a person with no skill will build a home, a road, a bridge or anything that's required skill, knowledge and intelligence.

Why government not focusing on Building Manufacturing units, Tech Hubs and improving things that Indians are good at? No one must given anything FREE on taxpayers money, that too when the taxes are forcefully taken.

i don't even treat people differently but if my children with 90% fail and suicide and 20% score get a seat then the hate will grow, more over time. it is no one fault to be born in a decent family.
You said a lot and implied a lot more. :D

The government knows better than a random guy on the internet, hence the caste census so we can push the talentless casteist out and bring real talent who were denied education & knowledge in the first place.

Errrr.. We will get caste based reservations in private too. Just wait and watch this caste based census. It's another vote bank politics.
