News Nintendo Switch 2 becomes fastest selling console at launch in history!

My advice wait a bit of you can. The console is just updated version of switch with not much to offer in software as of now. But your call.

I think he is fair in his comparison to home consoles. he points out comparison with PS5 mainly due to price also.
PS5 turns out cheaper but performs much better. So that is a fair point.

Yeah but can you take a PS5 in the park and play under the shades? It's a handheld to desktop comparison, one that doesn't make sense.
I am waiting for either testing in person or someone to drop a comparison of gen 1 games booting up on switch 1 and 2 to see if there is a noticeable improvement

check MVG or Switchup or Nintendolife

You could still do that with yuzu + rog ally/ legion go , esp if you swap out windows with steam OS
Rog ally is pretty cheap these days anyway and any of these handhelds load and run switch 1 games much better than switch 2

The only reason I still am tempted is because I know I eventually will get the v2 anyway and unlike Asus or lenovo, the prices arent really coming down for the next 5 years :|

Yes - but then comparing it to PS5 is flawed. You've brought in a 3rd console in the mix.
Want to play on TV? PS5. Want to play handheld? Ally. Add the cost of both consoles vs S2 alone (which serves a focused specific puporse only).
I understand comparing with Ally, SteamDeck etc, but one can only play S1 games unless S2 emulation comes along (speculations aside, the timeline isn't clear unless deep exploits are found).
The comparison made by him with PS5 was only upto the home console/ TV docking part, poor third party games performance and most imp. price.

He is still praising it as a handheld console.

Yeah - but isn't it an awkward comparison to compare what is essentially a handheld (there is no GPU or CPU in the dock) with optionality to play on TV to a console which is around 20 times bigger, consumes much more energy, has much higher GPU/CPU count etc and is only designed for TV play?
Look at the speculations for PS handheld - https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2025/06/ps6s-rumoured-handheld-is-getting-more-tangible-by-the-day

Most likely will run PS5 games at much lower frame rates, lower res and will use PSSR for upscaling. It's a handheld. It'll be held back by physics and need to have at least 2 hours of battery life. And if someone ends up comparing this handheld to PS5 or 6, again, it'll be a flawed comparison. Should be compared with S2, Ally X or whatever MS throws out by the time it's launched.
