you wanna know just whats the worth of Indian Academia is? look up the faculty list for any IIT, you wont find, even a single PHD from an IIT on it. At least that's what the case was 4-5 years ago. And this is not just IITs, you wont find any even at top NITs as well

This is wrong I guess. I studied in IITD around the same time frame. There are a lot of faculty who were PhDs, or B.Techs from IITs. Prof Maya Ramnath is PhD from IISc. Other profs like Parag Singla, Saurav Bansal etc., are also from very reputed colleges.
I think the issue is non-existence of tier-2 institutes for research. Top IITs are great at attracting talent, but they can only hire a few, and then institution quality degrades very quickly, so good researchers who can't make it to top IITs, have to settle abroad.

ah really? nice, I remember helping a few juniors out with college counseling, we were just looking at faculty members for iitd, iitk etc and didn't notice anything. Must have been confirmation bias for me
