I'm using the wharfedale 121 and if you put them less than 8 feet apart you'll miss out on the amazing stereo image they offer. You'll need to invest in a pair of stands as well. Without stands these speakers are crap.

You know you want the sense of scale and authority that come with speakers ;)

This may not be a popular opinion but after some research and auditioning, I realised that a proper hifi system is the only way to go (and not headphones/iems). With proper placement and room acoustics, the imaging is quite spectacular. I saved 50 grand because of this thread :)

Congrats But I have to say Lol @ the myth busters. Panasonic plasmas are the best TV's out there. Period. No ifs and buts. Not sony.

For surfing and emails, I use the iPad. For gaming and movies, a big screen tv is by far the best option. It lets me sit 6 feet away from the screen and with that I can set my stereo speakers 8 feet apart, creating a pretty big soundstage. Playing games on screens less than 42" just doesn't cut...

It's a 5.1 system. The rear speakers are behind.
