Its clear the account was misused by a scammer so both buyers should post the detail of the person they've paid. If he was genuine seller the paid amount should have been returned by now (unless he is doing a night shift)

I think your router is showing signs of aging as 12 years is a long time with almost no updates. You can buy any second hand router (4~5yrs old) that should work fine. Or spend some more to get wifi repeater buying a new router to be used as repeater makes no sense.

I don't have an wifi extender so can't comment but my old router works fine as extender. Though I prefer access point mode to get full speed (currently using)
