What is up with terrible battery quality in second hand market.
Usually what happens is, when people buy new battery out of frustration that their old battery is worn up, in reality their phone has developed a hardware level problem which is called excessive power consumption even in deep sleep, which accelerated their battery wear level.

Now this user goes out and buys a aftermarket battery and it performs similar to the original worn out battery, but only slightly better because it new newer. Giving the user the illusion that the battery is bad.

In that case the phone needs to be repaired first and then the new battery should be installed.

This is something that i cant beleive without some credible source .
This may be the case with some (lets say 30 percent for the sake of argument),but not for every single phone.
For ex i once replaced a battery of my yureka device (was 2.5 yrs old at the time of replacement). Ordered thru aliexpress,it had good reviews (500+).
Initially the battery was good, like when my phone was new but after less than 6 months it gave backup around 30_45 min more than the old one.
I have seen people having even worse experience when replacing it locally atleast more than half the time.

Yes, it not always the case but sometimes it is and can't be ignored.

The rule of thumb is, if you installed a new battery and it works exactly the same as your old battery, then the chances are your phone could have a board level problem.

In case you new battery works okay in the beginning but later it stop giving backup, then you can say that it is a bad battery, because it showed that the phone internals are working fine by giving you the right backup initially.

I hope it makes sense.

Looking to buy a battery for S21 ultra. Any options other than tonyvision or maxbhi? The former is yet to respond to a whatsapp message that I had initiated earlier today. The latter, I don't trust.
I'm not going to the official centre for replacement, since the device went bust after falling in water. The back cover came open in a couple of days, and the battery was found to be swollen. The device was never powered on once it fell in water, but it never turned on after that. So right now, I'm just experimenting to see if it can work with a good battery.

tonyvision.in
Such a weird looking Indian site. Low res Chinese banners/pics everywhere. Gave me a headache.
Maxbhi is straight trash
Always looked like that. :D

What you're mentioning here is a hardware defect outside the battery, which is not common. New batteries are rightly expected to drastically improve bb. https://www.androidauthority.com/smartphone-battery-life-drain-causes-1071423/

My smartphone's og battery got worse with time until one day turned into one puffer fish. Replaced it with one after market battery and the bb is better than ever before. As good if not better than og while new. It depends, on the manufacturer and your luck.

The Frankenstein I bought from @awestorr still gives me over 6 hours of battery life (SOT I mean, since it fails to enter sleep) and let me inform you that it is ~7 years old and he had gamed on this thing. So hardware degradation affecting battery is not that common, going purely by intuition; unless the hardware in question is the battery itself.

I'll be absolutely honest with you. I am more scared of those noname batteries bursting into flames than anything else.

As to why they are bad, they simply lack the tech to make sth good and prioritise margin over quality.
Do they think selling cheap quality battery once is more profitable than having a good/reputable business.
If I were a noname company like, for example, Mitsu, I'd prefer losing a lot of business by scamming one consumer for a good bulk sum. That's the mentality cuz what I get from one scam is the payment by six different customers at once. If I am like that, I know I don't have any credibility or competence to scale things to something big. So I'd prioritise profit over quality.

I have had great experience for battery from Mobatree.
I bought a battery for my old Redmi 3S Prime (Still daily driving it), and can not praise it enough. Not only the price was good, I even got a discount from the lucky wheel on their website (which is planned it seems) and it also breathed new life to my phone. Has been working as original since more than a year now.
