Jio Airfiber

OK, it seems not possible in router web UI nor the MyJio app BUT BUT BUT in the Jio website if you login to your account and go to the WiFi section of device settings there it has an option to set SSID name and also disable the 2.4 and 5 ghz radios and it shows a message "it will take some time" so I made the change and waiting to see if it actually works and how long it might take :)

I didn't have any luck with thus either.
If you figure it out, do please post here as well

Did you try the Jio website like how I mentioned in a later post? I just tried it but gotta see if it really works and how long it will take if it does.

Whats the cheapest plan I can try this on as a fail over for my cams. No wire means no one can deliberately **** it up unless they **** up Jio network.
All my cams will work given minimum 10-20mbps bandwidth.

I have this as a failover/ load balancing line for home.
It's great as a backup because its (mostly) immune to fiber cuts and prolonged outages.
However I would never recommend it as a primary connection unless there is no other choice

Just take a look at the avg RTT in the graph below (pay attention to the Y axis - Yellow is Airtel and blue is Jio Air)

Update:

Jio air went down day 3 days ago.

The router is fully locked and has zero info other than tr069 showing down… so no way to troubleshot at user end.

Calls get a reassurance each time that technician will visit. No one ever visits or calls.

Call center has no supposed ability other than to say we are escalating.

No number for local vendor, no means to allow a refund, no means to do anything literally.

and they are forcing people to shift from 2G, 3G & 4G to 5G.
Lost of people who do not use/afford 4G/5G (Internet Data) and using 2G just for communication and Jio want it to stop. read here
Reliance/Jio open Vantara Animal Zoo for Poor Animals but don't care poor Human being who are not able to afford costly mobile/recharge but still (as all PCO/STD shut down all over India) using 2G and some how keep in touch with family, friends etc.

Perhaps contact the Appellate Authority. I thought all ISPs were required to have one.
No Appellate authority works till you have contacted the provider with proof and received a reply or not received a reply after multiple attempts
Even Airtel Postpaid doesnt have one . Tried everything to speak to someone except call center and supervisor , couldnt get one even after posting all over on social media
Even wrote an email that Appellate contact numbers don't work but no one even replied , what to get the contact numbers

I would see the previous scenario fit to complain to them.
The Appellate Authority contacts are listed on TRAI but they are for TSPs. Not sure if those would also apply to ISPs though.
One of the last options would be to log a complaint at INGRAMs.

Dafuq! I got the connection a couple of weeks ago with 100 mbps plan 899 and it was okay-ish. Today, just now tried a speedtest and got this result w00t! Anyone know what's going on?

Local nearby server and low number of users in your area, Try international servers and watch it tank.

Tried some EU locations both over speedtest.net and also linux console download from Ubuntu mirrors in DE, SE, FR etc getting around 200-300 over single connection and over 800 with multi connections

New accounting year starts from April 1, so luring innocents customers with HIGH SPEED to shift from others to Jio. Enjoy till April 15-20 and than all will be settled ;)

And yep it's back down to 100 now

At least I caught it while it was glitching and it shows 1gbit is feasible (at least technically) on my installation/location, nevermind tower congestion during busy hours etc.

I am still waiting for them to turn up to fix my issue :joycat:
BTW I checked the antenna on my terrace - it was not fastened properly at time of installation and it seems to have moved with winds.

The problem is that blindly turning it won't help as there is no mechanism to check the RSSI / S&R on the router and it takes several minutes to establish a connection- so the wait continues

The joke continues :joycat:

Its like an infinite loop of phone calls, so called escalations and eventually nothing.
8 days and counting.
This BTW is in Pune.. Cant even imagine whgat they will do in tier 2 towns

I obtained the email IDs of the Fiber division head at RIL and escalated the issue to him on Thursday .
That got me to a stage where I at least got a phone call from the local on-ground team that visited on Friday.
They couldn’t fix the issue though and left after supposedly raising a back end ticket.

They also marked the original complaint closed

Anyway, I am reescalating to see if it helps.
It’s been 12 days now and counting.
Also Jio has no option for a refund.

people are fedup of airfiber now .
the least they could have done is to provide a 1 month trial period or refund money after deducting installation charges. Just like jio fiber

as someone said Jio needs to be sued for this badly, its the need of the hour now.
