This is about how you can get products from aliexpress and alibaba easily

To get any products from china use a freight forwarder to get it shipped to India mainly for china there are two options SNS By Aramex and buy and ship
wont recommend buy and ship as its too costly for products weighing more than 1 kg.

This thread is mostly about SHOP AND SHIP By Aramex.

As soon as you create a ac with SNS you get access to all their worldwide warehouses addresses it jsut includes a shipping mark / your ID which is unique to every ac holder.

In the Past 6 Months I have used SNS 11 times for all parcels from China and never had a single issue

SNS charges 1600 for a half kg product the prices shown on website are final + 700 for custom clearance thats it.

Now How To avoid customs [ you cant avoid totally ]

Alibaba and express sellers know that govt in India charges a huge amount in customs so they will themselves reduce the amount in the invoice they provide you it totally depends on you what amount you want them to declare on invoice.

As soon as the parcel reaches the SNS warehouse you would be asked for invoice on email and to also upload on their website so you upload the invoice provided by your seller and its done everything would be handled by SNS now also you would also be shared a empty bill in doc format which you have to fill and send them over email.

Delivery time varies between 3 days to 7 days for china to india, parcel goes to dubai first and then to India.
delivery in india is handled by delhivery
or you can also also ask your seller to ship directly to india using fedex [ charges are 45 USD for 1 kg parcel takes 1 day for china to india] if you are in a hurry.

questions are welcomed.

Adding the SNS China warehouse address to AliExpress is a challenge; in fact it does not allow it. Not sure about Alibaba though.

1600 is definitely pretty steep (and over than their 700 customs processing charge) and still customs getting charged or not is not known, right?
I would instead go with a freight forwarder in this case as their charges can be under 1000 per kg and they handle customs for you so you only pay by weight and not a penny more.

AliExpress has a lot of products in their US warehouse. in that case it it cheaper to ship to the US address and then US to India is also cheaper.

Yeah cannot add mainland China address in AliExpress only Taiwan and Hong Kong address can be added.

For Alibaba it can be added.

Planet express only for USA? Also, how is customs handled in this?
Which one you recommend?

I have only one experience and that too was a leap of faith. I went to this website..

Contacted them on whatsapp / call and they send me the rates per kg. It is 2000 per kg but as soon as you go over 5 Kg, it drops to under 1000 rupees. You can ask them yourself.

never had a issue till date with customs, customs depends on what you choose aramex, fedex or dhl.
gone are the days when customs officials can charge you anything for your products, it doesnt work like this for pvt couriers now although it still does for indian post.
you pay what is stated in your invoice value , if its a product worth 1000 you need to pay only for that no matter what the customs guys think or no matter what is in the box .

you ever had a issue with customs ping me will help you.

So if I want to order an item that weighs over 1kg from Alibaba, what would be the best way to do it? Is SNS by Aramex the best choice? And how do I request the seller to reduce the amount in the invoice? Will be my first time ordering from Alibaba

  1. Contact the alibaba seller over its inbuilt chat and ask them the price with shipping to local chinese address. Usually upto even 5-7 kg it is $2-$4 only.
  2. Once it is all good, give him the name to be put (I assume there will be a shipping mark something provided by aramex), tell him to make sure it is included.
  3. Seller creates order and you pay and he ships using ZTO or YTO courier locally and will take max 3 days to reach aramex.
  4. Ask seller also for a PDF invoice with manipulated numbers. Submit that to aramex.

I have NOT gone through aramex but through a freight forwarder. Same approach.

i have a freight forwarder which takes 1200+gst per kg + rs1500 clerance charge for each shipment, + 40% custom tax. looking for a service or forwarder that can handle electronics with cmos battery or any battery.

their ZTO Is too good anywhere it hardly takes 2-3 days, its like bluedart here in India.

What is available in China that people want to buy from there? Is there some specific item that is not available elsewhere? Or is it simply cheap goods?
Too many things, China is basically world's manufacturing capital after all. This being a tech forum the obvious choices would be pc components. Some items which are available there are also available here but at many times the original price.

This might suggest it is basically about availability, variety and price rather than specific components not available elsewhere.

Most of the times, it is actually the latter. Sometimes you would find a reseller, if you are lucky, but for most of the items which folks have to import, they are simply unavailable here.
I would suggest you to trawl through such threads here - there are innumerable - to get a better understanding.
