Air India Express's Air Hostess Arrested for Smuggling 1 kg of Gold Through Her Anus

My goodness... that would been a spitefully uncomfortable flight with all that weight in the anal cavity!! But the lure of the monies...

Reminds me of the movie Crew I watched recently.
First of all let me tell you. The gold is in molten state. And they are given pain killer injection before this. And they do for mere 20k rupees.. my friend works in custom department at kerala. This story is from Kannur Airport
Last time he caught a case. He just did for the flight tickets only.
No , machines can't detect these. But custom department people knows. Who is bringing the gold by facial expressions. And sometimes they have info from the previous cases. As on 1kg gold informer is given 2 lakh and custom department/team is given 1 lakh for catching the person

You mean to say people carry molten gold (over 1000 C) in their rectum?

Gold is extremely malleable, you can compress gold weighing tons to a small brick

Her husband or partners probably remembers the time she rejected An@l advances

Oh damn, I can imagine the greased gold ben-wa balls slowly being engulfed in by the anal cavity.
Curious to know why they don't use vaginal cavity for this activity?

If we check the news reports regarding these cases, you will see some creative ways of smuggling they invent. Metal detectors are useless againt this now.

When one kilo get caught another 5 kg goes undetected. Customs catch them only through informers. Funny thing is some times the carrier with less weight up his a*s is tipped off by the sender himself to coverup some other large scale transit. Some times these smuggling happens with the help of airline staff themselves (ground staff and cabin crew). There is a chain in airport for this specifically. Here a top customs officer was caught and a chain of airport employee were exposed right after that. That top officer still roaming free (i guess there is no need to explain how) in another airport maybe.

Another thing is there is not much issue even after one get caught. Pay the taxes somewhow and release the package. The carrier maynot even know the sender personally and investigation gets stuck there. Everywhere is infiltrated by the smuggler's rats too. Somehow most of the carriers who gets caught do not face any repercussions.

One way customs catch them is by using the rivalry between different groups to get information. Once a raid happened and caught 14 kg sona or somehwere around that from the rooftop of a house while they were extracting gold from this 'gel'. Sometimes the smuggled sona get robbed right outsude the airport by another group (there is a specific word for this process too). Sometimes carrier goes through airport checking and gets caught right after they exit airport, by some other authorities.

Because of this lot of innocent people get harrassed both mentally and physically i know few cases. And i know one another case were the culprit was going fast on a superbike while people were yet to read the news paper with his photo and report that morning.

No matter what authorities do this happens in large amount still. Even through deplomatic packages they say. Celebrities, influencers etc are all linked with this as per news. The top players even had an instagram page showing off how they smuggle. People get brainwashed to be carriers when they are in dire need or when they want some of that modern luxury.

At the end of the day, the root of the problem is that government doesn't want people to save in gold. So it applies high duties on imports and creates incentives for smuggling.

The need to save in gold won't exist If only the returns on deposits actually beat inflation as people experience it, instead of adjusted consumer price inflation number which is questionable at best.

But if savers get returns to cover price rises, the large corporations that subtly influence policy won't benefit. So it is a never ending issue

Isn't govt. giving SGB option which hedges inflation + 2%pa interest, added benefit being not needed the physical security of keeping gold hidden ?
For govt., gold is like black money as it can be unaccounted, not generating any liquidity and returns for them.

Fair enough. I agree, the government wants to track all transactions, and hence the aversion to gold. However, interest rate suppression + smuggling will make it difficult to implement the policy where it matters (i.e. with big moneybag holders). But laymen like me won't have access to low-cost physical gold though, unless they pay duties +GST on the imported gold. And while SGB is good, my concern is that in case of hyperinflation, government will be first to write-down these bonds citing national interests. That risk is not imminent, but for me, gold is among the best ways to pass on wealth through generations. In the intergenerational timeframe, hyperinflation is quite likely to happen sooner than later, given the kind of money printing that has gone on everywhere for decades.
