how to access router admin page of jio fiber

1. Connect a laptop or computer to your Jio network
2. Press Windows +R button to open run
3. Type in CMD. This opens command prompt window
4. Type in ipconfig and press enter
5. Not down the gateway IP address. Most probably it will be 192.168.1.1
6. From the same laptop, open a browser of your choice and type 192.168.1.1 in URL field
7. If login page appears, enter username admin and Jiocentrum password.
 
Jio/any ISP does not support port forwarding/upnp if using CGNAT & as far as I know jio use only CGNAT for its IPv4 addresses though they might be giving public IP for IPv6 (airtel now giving CGNAT even for IPv6). To make port forwarding/upnp work your ISP must give you public IP whether on IPv4 or IPv6.

OT, but I had to lament here -

Why, oh why?

This defeats the entire purpose of ipv6.

What benefits do they gain by CGNAT on IPv6?

Any credible source of information where you saw this?

2 things,

Jio and most other ISP routers are TR069 controlled. In other words, everything is via the ISP. This is also why you're able to change the WiFi password via the app rather than via router settings page. Hence, even if you did have a public IP, I doubt the options for uPnP/port forwarding will work.

The next point makes the previous one moot.(as @guest_999 pointed out)

As long as you don't have a public IP, port forwarding and uPnP, will only get you so far as to the ISP's CGNAT layer, everything thereon is controlled by the ISP firewall and all unrelated packets are dropped.

Reading posts like these, I’m less and less enthused about the upcoming arrival of JioFiber in my locality. I have all the control right now as soon as the line enters my home via my local ISP even if it’s not as cheap as JioFiber and even if it doesn’t have the same add-ons included.

Slightly OT: I wonder if anyone here is forced to live with JioFiber but managed to get them to sign off and use your own router/networking equipment or is that just not possible at all? As in, double NAT is the only way?

its possible to bypass their router but its tough for a normal user , you need to be good at networking to get rid of its ont and have the correct onu to use yours.

its pointless to remove their ont I removed it and I cant feel any difference and also even if you remove their ont you are still behind double nat , jio uses cgnat so it would be kinda triple nat for you

But if I need to play around and have control of IP assignments and other stuff, I still need my own router no? Isn’t it better to have one instead of two even if CGNAT is unavoidable?

But yeah, I guess it might not matter too much for most browsing activities. My thought was more in terms of control.

Also when you said it’s doable, you mean like it’s possible to put it in bridge mode or like actually getting some other ONT but still forced to use that as the router? If there’s some thread about removing their crap, would love to have that. Just to know what it takes.
 
If you can, use Airtel fiber. They have static ip as an addon even for the residential connections, routers can be put into dumb bridge mode (and use your own router), you can even use the generic xpon sfp modules and eliminate their router altogether (using proper vlan tag). In my experience they've been remarkably stable, but ymmv.

Same here bro. Hacking Jio Gateway and extracting “Real” GPON SN felt so satisfying. UXG-Max set to Auto DHCPv4 and Jio fiber just works….. This dual WAN with failover is one of the best implementations of Ubiquiti even with it’s learning curve. 2 VSOL ONUs working in tandem.

For Mumbai, Jio Gateway login is:
username: admin
password: Mumbai@123
 
Just got installed Jio Fiber last week and here is how I got into the router admin page.
Reset router by pressing the reset button on the back for 10s and release
After reboot access router login page at 192.168.29.1 (wifi ssid password is printed on the back)
Default user/password is admin/Jiocentrum
On login it asks to set admin and guest password
Password needs to be 8-32 char with upper, lower case, number & special character
Tried different combinations but I think it does not accept @ ! $ - character
Finally this worked as my password Firstname.lastname123

Honestly ACT is a much better ISP with better routing and freedom of using our own routers with open source firmware on it
I only got the Jio Backup plan for the tv channels and Ott
And their STB with poor software and filled with ads is thoroughly disappointing

Hey I did try this password as well, but it still doesnt seem to work? I tried the default admin/admin, admin/Jiocentrum, admin/jiocentrum all of this and yet none of this seems to work.
What else can I do? I had setup a password a long time ago but recently the technichian who came to fix my router reset it and now it doesn't work.

Pls help.
