1. Samsung Galaxy M14 5g (4 GB/128GB) phone. This phone is in mint condition, and it is ~3.5 months old. The phone has no scratches on either side as it was used with case from day 1.
It also includes a Spigen Essential Sand Blast Back Cover case.

I had an unpleasant experience with the seller when I bought a “Samsung Galaxy S10” from him.

Let me highlight you all about our conversation in short:

1) I contacted the seller for his “Samsung Galaxy S10 for parts” thread after going through the phone pic that he had posted.
2) When asked about more details, the seller told me that the phone had fallen on the floor and the back glass had shattered. The battery was also replaced before this unfortunate incident, and sometimes the phone vibrates when connected to the charger.
3) After I paid the amount, I waited patiently for 2 weeks as there was a delay caused by Porter (via Delhivery). The buyer also helped me throughout this.
4) I submitted the phone at a service center and requested that the seller unlink the phone from his Google or Samsung account. The phone never once vibrated when connected to the charger.
5) I had an emergency situation at home, so I didn’t update the seller about the phone for a few days. Meanwhile, I got to know from the service center that the phone is severely water damaged, with both litmus papers turning red.
6) I took the phone to three more service centre & they reiterated the same thing that the phone is water damaged & that not a single part is in working condition. I informed the seller & expressed my disappointment to which he replied that he wasn’t aware of the water damage but he agreed that he had used tap water to remove the shattered glass scrap.
7) If the seller had informed me about tap water usage, then I would have refrained from buying his phone! As the seller claimed that he is selling his phone “for parts," I thought of taking a chance to utilize his phone’s power IC to resurrect my mother’s already dead Samsung S10.
8) The seller didn’t apologize, and instead he went on to push it on me, claiming that I expected a motherboard for just 700/-!! This offended me, but I kept my calm. I replied to him, saying that even if he had quoted 4700/-, I would have bought it without haggling, for sure.
9) The seller never talked about offering a refund. I tried moving on from this since the amount involved is just 700/-, but I informed the moderators because I feel like I have been cheated. This thought of me getting cheated is troubling me & this is the first time in 12 years that I've had a bad experience on TE.


Please note the following points of the seller:
1) He purposefully hid the information that his phone was held under tap water. He accepted it only after I told him that the phone is water damaged as per the service center and that the motherboard, display, and every single part is unusable and damaged.
2) The moment I paid him, he immediately deleted the picture of the phone (a Samsung Galaxy S10) and its information from his Sell thread.
3) He hurriedly requested the moderators to lock his Sell thread without exchanging feedback with me.
4) The seller already has the neutral feedback of another TE guy, indicating that this seller doesn't know about his items.

You really started complaining about it, but I don't see where am I wrong??
I sold a non- working phone for Rs 500 (+200 shipping) with Rs 600 case on it. You expected something out of the phone, but I wasn't aware of it. Assuming the phone as dead I sold it for Rs 500 + shipping. Otherwise I could have used it for Dex.

7. See, I was not aware about water damage so how could I inform you. If you could have shared your use case, then I could have got the phone checked in a local shop.
8. Why would I apologize?? I clearly told the phone doesn't boot at all but sometimes vibrates when connected to charger.
9. As I remember I told you about the refund on WhatsApp, but you don't want the money either. As a reference, I sold a raspberry pi 4b to @_Alucard_, it got damaged somehow in transit or by the buyer. After multiple failed attempts to make it work, he asked me for a refund. So, the next day I refunded him the full amount and sent the raspberry pi back to me. I'm even open to refund now, you can keep or return the item as you desire.
Just to add, you never asked for refund, clearly denying money from me by saying ' I DON’T want my money!'. I don't think you had any right to complain. It might have appealed if I said no to refund.

1. You are assuming that I hid the info, I sold the phone as in non-working condition clearly. I was not aware that the phone is water damaged.
2. You are again assuming things. I usually delete stuff once the deal is complete. What's the point of keeping stuff in there to confuse other people. You can check this thread for reference - post
3. I'm not really in any hurry. Once the deal is done, I usually request the mods to close the thread like this very thread.
4. So, one neutral feedback means doesn't mean anything. It can be confusion, or the other party may be wrong. At least not the level that I don't know my stuff. What about 19 +ve feedbacks?? I hope you can do the Math. Just for reference, I'm not a kid here that don't know about his own stuff. I work at a AAA game dev company as a Principal Software Engineer.

i have to disagree, you shouldnt remove pics atleast until feedbacks been exchanged.

Ok. But what does the pics have to do with anything. Removing the pics is just the personal choice. I've it backed up as I've uploaded it here. This clearly shows no bad intention. Otherwise, I wouldn't have uploaded it here.
 
Can we have a separate discussion thread rather than some chit chat in this already completed deal thread or the other giveaway thread.

As my personal opinion after observation of the discussions , the seller is not at immediate fault here, but somehow the deal didn't go as the buyer's expectations or assumptions. Even though, the seller has agreed to refund back.
If I were the buyer, I'd be more than happy to get refund.
 
I agree @gamingstill has offered more than enough as a seller.
The only thing thats unusual is him deleting the pics,but that doesnt mean any fault . Its just odd and unusual thing to do.
Since deal was concluded in this thread its logical to turn this into a "chit chat thread" for any discussion related to the deal.

You've put it there clearly in ur sale thread, "for parts" and then "non-working". Means phone is not working but can be used for slvaging of parts.
And if you did hid the fact that you washed it under water is plain simple that a fact was hidden while saying it is for sale for parts only.
And if you can't put things up here even after being a principal software engineer at a AAA game dev company than u shouldn't post a sale thread as it seems you know about software only having no idea about hardware.
 
Seller should refund the entire amount paid + buyer should be compensated for the hassles. If one knew the device was water damaged would anyone in his right mind buy it even for parts??? This is why it's important to be transparent in a sale thread.

It is the buyer that made me aware that the phone is water damaged. As S10 is IP-68 rated, anyone would assume it won't get damaged by some few splashes of water.

I didn't hid any fact and during conversation I clearly told him that the phone is not booting at all. Not working means the motherboard could be damaged as well.
If it was just the display damage then in that case the phone can be detected by computer but it is not the case. So, imo assuming a working motherboard is not the right thing unless you are good at winning lotteries.

I don't know how much you know about Gamedev but knowledge about hardware is essential for Gamedev. One more thing, knowing the hardware specs is very different from actual engineering.
