I always evade this option if buying online. (local shops dont talk about this)

Is it really worth the same ?

what i have heard third party insurance companies just negotiate with you and settle with some amount that is way less than the actual repair cost. kind of a scam. very unreliable. tread carefully.

Yes, that's usually the case in India. For the longest time, insurance on Electronics, and particularly Smartphones, has been a nightmare.
ANY problem with the internal component, the straightaway answer is "Motherboard Fault". Screen Damaged? Not Covered under Policy.
Although experience may vary, smartphone users might be better off using a good phone case, screen guard and handling the device with utmost care.
