KVM help!

Level D
Hi all, i wanted to use Mac laptop (HDMI connection or i can use usb-c too) with PC (using Display port) so, in amazon i couldnt find any (or my search is bad) which supported HDMI + Display port for single monitor use
Saw one for dual monitor setup - here but, will it work for the above case? if i just connect 1 HDMI/USB-c and 1 DP to it (Mac -> HDMI -> KVM || PC -> DP -> KVM then KVM_output - DP -> monitor)
I dont want to use HDMI for PC as it'll reduce my refresh rate to 60-75hz and also using 1080p display.
Monitor currently using - BenQ Zowie XL2720

Please let me know any other models available or suite this with lesser budget (within 2.5k) rather than 4.5k

Last I checked, KVM options in India were shit or expensive. The one linked by OP seems good vs when I was looking for one a year ago or so.

Not sure why OP is worried about HDMI as the linked KVM seems to work with bioth HDMI & DP.

I have a jugaad with USB hubs & USB extender cables, where I just have to shift the USB hub from a USB cable connected to my PC to another hub connected to my office laptop. System is not as good as a good KVM but for few hundreds, it works well.

just wanna know one thing, your monitor doesnt have two ports you can use? I wont recommend a KVM switch for Monitor input, even the best ones are not that good unfortunately, the way I have set it up is, personal lappy is on hdmi, mac on DP (purely because those are the cables I had on hand), and I use a UGREEN KVM switch for mouse/keyboard

EDIT: just checked, your monitor does have 2 HDMI/1DP port, so it might be better if you managed video via monitor and keyboard/mouse/any other peripheral via a basic KVM switch

KVM's main purpose is to switch USB devices according to monitor input source automatically, if you just want to switch KB and mouse between 2 PCs just get a USB switcher.

This looks good for my use case as well
have got its 3.0 version for 2.5k, been using for a couple of years and its worked perfectly, one thing though, the transfer speeds are pretty crap if you are gonna connect an external HDD/SSD to it, even with connecting a charger to power the switch

I have a usb hub which has KB, mouse and my xbox controller dongle, so no need of USB 3.0 for my usage.

I can try this. I'll have to do juggad for that - since proper spacing is an issue due to my 3year old son roaming around and he might yank the cables or laptop since he likes playing around while i'm working

Use some multi device wireless/BT keyboard & mouse then if it can work for your requirements.

that'll be an issue even with a KVM tbh, as a workaround you can put the cabled in a PVC pipe or just pipe them below the table
