With so many advancements in phone technology happening so quickly, I'm curious about the latest trends we should be keeping an eye on. It feels like every year, new features are making our phones faster, smarter, and more intuitive. Whether it’s Android lock screen widgets, new AI capabilities, there’s always something new. What are the top trends you think are worth paying attention to right now?

Night vision??? why would phone cameras need night vision? I would say either new battery tech I'm still skeptical about the dual battey and silicon carbon battery and phones that have low idle power.

Why do cameras have another gimmick no one uses.....To sell. Night photography perhaps. Camera tech is reaching its endpoint. Night vision on high-end phones would be a game changer. I am not talking about military green night vision. I am talking about colour night vision tech that will allow taking pictures at night without the flash. Tech that will make night pictures better.

There was a Lenovo tablet that had an in-built projector. It would be really cool if they brought that back, with a higher quality output ofc.
Also, agree that fold phones are getting real good. I'm eagerly waiting for a triple fold Samsung/Pixel phone to release.
We may even have advanced augmented reality sunglasses that don't need to connect to a phone.

There's still Unihertz Tank 3 projector phone available in 2024

Edit: Apparently Nokia is making one too.

Silicon Carbide batteries

Chinese companies have started the push for 6000+ mah battery in their next gen flagships. Samsung might join them 1 year late. A big battery + fast charging is still something that many people would like. Oneplus 13 has a bigger battery than OP12 while being slightly lighter. Maybe Samsung & Apple will use this in their rumoured Slim phones.

this is something I can get behind 100%, more battery is always good

More battery life is always really good. I hope we see high mah batteries in phones while being lighter would be a game changer.

AI, Power to run your apps smoothly, storage, battery life.
Rest all are fancy, (even AI is, but better AI features as per your requirement, can be game changer.

The weakest and self-destructing aspect of a smartphone is still the battery.
Manufacturers, however, have no incentive to improve longevity or battery endurance. How else will they sell new phones if consumers keep using their devices longer than a year?
Perhaps a third-party battery manufacturer could come up with batteries with improve chemistry to ensure phones work well beyond their planned lives. This maker, whoever it is, would become a multi-billionaire as consumers would flock to buy batteries after the original fails to hold sufficient charge longer.

hone nahi dega.

Just like Pharmaceutical industry threatens or delays medical advances in many medical fields as they will hit their business badly.

These big companies mobile companies also keep working together in one way or the other to stop major progress in Battery life because of that technology will just kill their profit massively.

For example, Look How gopro use to sell shit batteries for a long time . Bulging up and not working in below zero temperatures.
Now we have action cameras with battery working as low -20C .

And Gopro didnt change it until long time unless chinese were first to bring such battery and still gopro carried on unless they realise that people were moving to new chinese action cameras just because of the batteries.

So that means such efficient battery technology was already there but delayed purposely.
