Android Fastest way to do UPI payments with fewest taps?

I've been thinking of what is the fastest way to take the phone out of your pocket and make a UPI payment. Is there a way to directly launch the QR scanner of GPay or BHIM? I checked nova activity widget but neither app seems to have that as an activity. Just some useless stuff.

My Moto phone has the gesture to double tap the back of the phone to launch an app. Is there a UPI scanner app separately that can scan a QR for me and offer me to choose from the UPI apps on my phone?? I will be able to use that app with the gesture to get something pretty fast then.

Also open to hearing if your phone OEM has a better way of doing this.

It takes me 5 seconds to open my phone with my fingerprint and open gpay (with the unnecessary extra lock screen disabled) on my homescreen and then I just click the scan option. Paytm and the other UPI apps are filled with extra stuff I don't need, Gpay for me is still the cleanest for me and my parents to use.

It's not like it takes too much time, but it can easily take even less time if phone makers put a minimum amount of effort. I already have the double press power button to open camera gesture, and the camera app by default is also able to read QR codes, but all it does with UPI codes is copy them to the clipboard. FFS learn about your users and just offer the option to open them in a UPI app instead.

WhatsApp Payments

I’m surprised more people haven’t realized how fast and convenient this is! The best part? You don’t need to install any additional payment apps, WhatsApp handles it all. Since we already use WhatsApp so frequently, the built-in payment feature makes sending money effortless.

It’s also one of the cleanest methods for transferring money to your contacts. The only requirements are:
  • The recipient must be on WhatsApp.
  • They should have WhatsApp Payments set up in their app.

I don't remember how I got a separate app icon for Amazon Pay on my phone. It directly starts scanning for QR code. Automatically switches on flashlight in low light conditions too.
Another option is to set Amazon Pay as swipe action via Nova launcher.

Create a shortcut to Amazon pay on your home screen.
Unlock phone hold the shortcut and get multiple options to make payment (scan qr, send money to number or upi, billers)
So far fastest among all.

I just have a small issue, how to send payments again to people/shops to whom i have already paid via qr code, mobile number or upi..
This does not works or i am doing something wrong.

Samsung has samsung pay thing, where u can slide up from home screen and you get the pay/scan options.

If you want to just scan and pay without pin, check upi lite.

I use phonepe scanner widget on ios. I’ve put it in left of Home Screen.
I would prefer pinless NFC tap payments tbh but Apple doesn’t support it.

PhonePe widget on iOS homescreen, directly opens scanner then pay with upi lite
I had used UPI lite before, used to load 2k into it, but having to periodically load money into it was a hassle. Might try it again with bigger amounts.

How much do you guys load??
There is upi lite auto topup

Just go to Upi lite page, there should be options to add money and set auto topup
Hmmm.. thanks, auto topup is nice. It seems NPCI increased the lite limit to 5000 but GPay and BHIM both show 2000 still. Will wait until they update it because 2000 is too low.
